In 1883 my great grandfather built a Congregational Church on the Parade, at Rose Park. In my life time I have always known the suburb of Rose Park to stop at Kensington Rd. Is there anyway I can find out if Rose Park originally went through to The Parade. I would love to know where the Church used to be. Cheers Judy
I seem to remember that there was a church just above Osmond tce on the Parade on the Southern side, cant remember whether it was a Cong or Baptist church though (It would possibly have been around 138-140 The parade). Closest to being on Parade to Rose Park (Not the St. Giles Presbyterian church adjacent to the Norwood Oval) There is a building that looks like the one I am thinking of which is now Mary Martin bookshop at 140 the Parade. This wouldnt have been Rose Park though. If it was still in existence in 1970's , the UCA historical society may have something on it. Have a look at : > http://historicalsociety.unitingchurch.org.au/ < Rose Park had Gartrell Memorial Church in Alexandra Ave. Rose Park. regards Freda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Elliott" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 04, 2013 10:02 AM Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] THE PARADE, ROSE PARK > In 1883 my great grandfather built a Congregational Church on the Parade, > at Rose Park.
