Hi Listers, Hoping sks could please enlighten me on the Christian name of KERSWELL is it does anyone know if it is A female or male Christian name? I found it on Trove in W.A. in 1941. With many thanks in advance, Judy
Hi Judy I suspect you are looking at Thomas Kerswell ASLAT born 1876 Bedminster, UK, (from FreeBMD). In the SA births database 3 births are listed for Richard Tom ASLAT and Sarah KERSWELL between 1885 and 1887. Richard Tom ASLAT and Sarah KERSWELL were probably married in Newton-Abbot, Devon, 1874 (FreeBMD again) and had at least 3 children in Bedminster. Thomas Kerswell ASLAT was married 1907 in SA when his father is listed as Richard Thomas ASLAT. Thus the KERSWELL is his mother's maiden name and is gender non-specific.
