Hi Pat 1. there is a book (2 volumes)  listing bankruptcies in SA  - I do no recall the time period covered nor the author's name. 2. try searching the business directories on line at the State Library of SA which cover the period from 1864 to 1959 http://guides.slsa.sa.gov.au/content.php?pid=366485&sid=3000163 [1] and find when businesses disappear from the directories.
