Example of rubbish in Family History ‘Who do you think you are’ Last week- on Fox TV Rob LOWE the actor – his 5 X grandfather was a German soldier who was paid by England to fight George Washington's soldiers He was captured and imprisoned and eventually asked to sign a paper saying he wanted to stay in America - so he then became a shop owner or draper? this was unclear Rob LOWE had gone to the Daughters of the Revolution research centre and found this out – so his 5X Grandfather fought against Washington and his lot. Note this is the part that put doubt some researchers At the end of the show he goes back to his room in the hotel and there is, by miracle, is a letter from the Sons or Daughters of the Revolution Saying - that because his 5X grandfathers sold 'CLOTH' to the Revolution he was now on their files files – and he, Rob LOWE was now a son of the revolution and the letter congratulated him – Bollocks I think I an getting syndical in my old age Jill

We don't have FOXTEL but the Who Do You Think You are on SBS have watched it. They make it all look too easy ( I wish it was !!! ) on that show as they Do. Naturally for the show, researchers working behind the scenes and do it all for the person and not like a hard slog and frustration us genealogists experience in the real world of genealogy. Well Jill I must be the same as you and don't think either of us are cynical and agree with all you say below. It gets me some things ACTUALLY mostly all of it how it is all handed to the Guest star on Who Do You Think You are how they have all the Info handed on a golden platter. BUT I guess as the show only goes for an hour they have to do it.LOL. Have watched a sprinkling of both the UK and Aussie WDYTYA's, particularly enjoyed some of the Australian series. Cynical, no I don't think so Jill.
