Laurence Smith details shown below, was said to have migrated to california to 'chase gold'. This, I imagine , would have needed official immigration. He was said to have married a Kate Kernough I assume in United States of America and subsequently died there on 25 December 1926. Phiilip Smith was thought to have been brought up by his Smith grandparents but it is not known whether he migrated with his father.
