Sorry Ros, not very clear! I was guessing that between those dates might have been when she died...I knew she was alive in late 1869, and I knew she was born roughly 1820, so I allowed her 90 years! The one you have found adds to the mystery, as it is definitely the same date, and using the Jane version of the name. But the newspaper notice definitely says her husband is John. To add to it all, their eldest son was James, so perhaps the death registration got it wrong. Or perhaps it is all coincidence and they are 2 different families! It happens with John Browns! I will try to see the original cert. at SAGHS to see if there are any more clues, and look more into where James was living...I know he was in Adelaide and not the outback.
