Hi, I am re-kindling an attempt at putting some family history together. Do you think this is best done alone, in a club, with a friend, with someone doing similar research, etc? I can't get down to the library very often due to family needs so need to look at other options for information atm. I don't want to ask for too many lookups, so am considering buying the digger tools (wow, pricey ... ) but am looking at options. Do you think a club membership would be useful? Anyone desperately looking to mentor someone :) What have you found works for you? thanks folk shaun
Hi Shaun Most important - have a user friendly but powerful genealogical database. I use PAF (Personal Ancestral File) which can be downloaded free of charge from www.familysearch.org Then whatever you discover can be stored in an orderly fashion. I've got 37 000 names in my database, most of which have biographical notes. I'm happy to step you through the process if you'd like. Best wishes Merilyn Pedrick Aldgate -------Original Message------- From: Shaun Branden Date: 12/12/2010 12:11:46 PM To: AUS-SAGEN@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] help, mentor, advice, where to start ...
