New people to that list are sometimes horrified by the personal insults that are hurled around. However ......... Amongst all that hoohar there are gems of information which open up gates in brick walls and generally move all of us back several generations in time if we share those ancestors. When I joined that list about 15 years ago I thought I must have been the only person on the planet who wasn't descended from Edward III, but with the help and guidance of scholars and ordinary listers I now have over 30,000 people on my database, many of whom are from medieval and beyond, (and including Edward III). If I had left the list because I was shocked by the bad manners of some of the listers, I wouldn't have found all that information. So, let's have everything out in the open and let's not be too precious about our own feelings. I'd love to see other peoples' research here and I m sure others would too. If the replies to queries are sent to the person asking the question, none of the rest of us are going to benefit if we can't see the replies. Perhaps in the case of the copyright on certain information it could be paraphrased?
