I have some experience with this having worked in the photographic industry specialising in archival keeping and restoration of photos. Whilst I have mine in safe albums I have copied them all onto Black and white 35mm film, note this is NOT the B&W film that can be processed with colour chemicals. I used a Pentax K 100 with a macro lens, mounted on a copy stand.With the use of digital cameras now mostly in use ,you could probably pick up such a camera up at a reasonable price and maybe also a copy stand. The reason for True B&W film is that the film that can be processed via the colour processing is made up, like normal colour film, of dyes and these fade. I have stored my negs in archival folders and these have the added advantage of having a space where you can record the description of each photo. I am sure that there will be someone who will be printing from B&W negs for quite some time, where I am in doubt about anything computer or d! igital. Whatever method you choose as much detail should be written on the back of each photo, but NOT in biro, use a soft leaded pencil.If you have any doubts I am sure that your state library will have an archive dept. where you could consult their expert.
