    3. Hi all, I am helping someone to see if we can find their Irish roots. Details is Arthur O'Neill was born Paringa, South Australia around 1850. On his marriage details he states his father is Thomas O'Neill I would assume Thomas came out from Ireland. I have ancestry and findmypast but I am having no luck finding any details of Arthur's birth or his father Thomas O'Neill. We do know that Arthur was prominent in Callington, SA and died in the area. Can anyone help me find birth details for Arthur, any siblings, or anything to do with his father Thomas or who he married? Regards Gay

    3. Gay, you don’t say if you’ve researched shipping arrivals Australia. If Thomas came to Australia, there should be a BDM record for him somewhere. Reverting to Ireland, it helps to know their religion. Other Irish resources are at https://familysearch.org/ - Choose Ireland from the map at the Search page. http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/. http://www.willcalendars.nationalarchives.ie/search/cwa/home.jsp All the above are free. O’Neill is an old Irish name and many were landholders. But large families saw many emigrating. However, this does not mean that all members of the family left. Wow thank you so much for the lovely people on this list who replied with help in finding Arthur O'Neill, his family and his father Thomas O'Neill including death details Ian as usual an amazing researcher and Cathy for the image that takes us back the next level of Thomas coming from Wicklow Ireland..
