We now have an un blacked out version of the Birth certificate and the blacked out words - would you believe were Spinster and Illegitimate - the mother was Elise HARTMAN age 23 years in 1926 makes her born 1903 and she said she was born in Melbourne Victoria So now we know - BUT - there is no such person in the Victorian births The baby was born in Albury NSW in 1926 She then came to South Australia and placed the baby boy in the Mareeba Baby Hospital in Woodville he was 3 months old in April 1926 when she left him This is sad - But I think that is all we will ever know The baby was fostered by a lovely lady who at one time had 10 children of her own - Mrs GILLESPIE was elderly when she fostered him I know who this lady was. No need to search for her Thankyou for everyone who helped us I am writing this in the hope someone will find this in the archives It happened to me after 8 years when I was trying to find a member of my own family So it might happen again- just hope I am not dead when it does - Smile Sincerely Jill
