    3. I'm a lurker on this list but admin of several other Rootsweb mailing lists. List archives have been unavailable for some weeks but are finally back. It appears that list traffic is coming back as well but the spam filters at Rootsweb are not fully tuned to previous settings. The spam appearing on-list is what normally gets bounced in (sometimes) hundreds per day to all list admins for approval or deletion. The filters will no doubt soon be re-adjusted to once again prevent this sort of rubbish appearing. In the meantime, ignore all such messages, delete them & most importantly, don't click on any dodgy links within them. 3. There is a place called Petersville which owes its name to the Petersen family, who I believe were Danish. I think there are some of that family buried in the Ardrossan cemetery. There is a bit of material including pictures in the Ardrossan-Cunningham Ward Centenary Book 1873-1973. I can scan it if you like. Cheers Kevin Brewer

    3. Hi Alan Alfred George and Margaret Alice Boffey appear in the 1949 Electoral Rolls (at Ancestry.com) at Mt Evelyn. They do not appear to be in the 1942 roll although I suspect a single Alfred George (an assistant mechanic) lives in Coburg.   So they married between 1946 (your date) and 1949. I am trying to find a marriage in Victoria of Margaret Alice Trowbridge (Rogers) to Alfred Boffey sometime between 1946 and 1954. I have searched the BDM for Victoria and the Australian Marriage Index 1788-1950 with no success. I actually have a photo of them standing on the steps that i am led to believe were at the Brunswick Registry Office, if they had one in Brunswick. Any suggestions where else i might look. 3. Hi Alan, Don't get frustrated - just accept the fact that Marriages via Vic BDMs are only available to 1942, so your request is outside those boundaries. Another option is to search the Newspapers for a marriage announcement. Regards ... Ian Kelly -----Original Message----- From: Christine Anderson via Sent: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 6:52 PM To: aus-sagen Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] re keeping of photos Have been following this subject. I have some experience with this having worked in the photographic industry specialising in archival keeping and restoration of photos. Whilst I have mine in safe albums I have copied them all onto Black and white 35mm film, note this is NOT the B&W film that can be processed with colour chemicals. I used a Pentax K 100 with a macro lens, mounted on a copy stand. With the use of digital cameras now mostly in use ,you could probably pick up such a camera up at a reasonable price and maybe also a copy stand. The reason for True B&W film is that the film that can be processed via the colour processing is made up, like normal colour film, of dyes and these fade. I have stored my negs in archival folders and these have the added advantage of having a space where you can record the description of each photo. I am sure that there will be someone who will be printing from B&W negs for quite some time, where I am in doubt about anything computer or d! igital. Whatever method you choose as much detail should be written on the back of each photo, but NOT in biro, use a soft leaded pencil. If you have any doubts I am sure that your state library will have an archive dept. where you could consult their expert.
