Brighton is my place of interest and I found that there was a Brighton Municipality and a Brighton Council. I would like to learn why the two authorities during a time when the population possibly was quite small. Are you able to provide an explanation? Ray W Smith judray@iinet.net.au

Please reply directly to Mike, Do Not Hit Reply, as I will get the message Ros ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "Mike" <mpsangster@bigpond.com> To: "AUS-SAGEN" <AUS-SAGEN@rootsweb.com> Date: Sat, 9 Oct 2010 17:34:14 +1030 Subject: Printing Problems Greetings all, I seem to have an problem, as when I send an typed email, the printing wording as to who I address details to, the subject details are also small, ie around size of approx. size Number 2 to 3., whereas my Font Size is 10 and is OK. I have adjusted my Font size as OK, but the Font size doesn't help the printing size of an person's email address or the subject details, as thse are so small in size, that I have to use an magnifying glass to read details. I have checked an Windows XP book, and there is only the Font Size, which is not much help here. So, any assistance would be most appreciative, or. where to look look on Control Panel, which I have looked at Font Size, plus Folder Options, plus, Printers and Faxe's etc. I have spoken to the company who sold me the Printer, and the problem is not there, as when this problem comes up, there is usually an picture, or attachment attached to what i hope to send. Thanking you for reading of my problem, but I have written to other friends on the net, and are having the same problem as I have. Lastly, if anyone can direct me where to look, or what to write to Microsoft, I would be so grateful. With Kind Regards,...................Mike Sangster.

    1. [AUS-SAGEN] Electoral Roll Lookup for Gordon Lindsay
    2. Rosemary
    3. Hi listers, Does anyone have access to the SA Electoral Rolls? Or possibly something similar to the NSW Sands Directories or the WA Post Office Directories? I'm looking for my half-uncle, Gordon Lindsay. He was born in Winslow, Vic in 1889; married Emma Mildred Court at Elaine, Vic in 1916 and was in the Geelong area electoral rolls for 1919 and 1924. He then disappeared from all the rolls in all states until he died in 1961 at the Melbourne Home and Hospital for the Aged at Cheltenham, Vic (drowned in a lake on the property). When she died in 1949 his wife Emma listed herself as a Widow. On his death in 1961 he was listed as Married. His occupation was variously labourer, carter, or driver. Gordon didn't serve in WWI or WWII. There aren't any Service Records of any kind for him on the NAA site. I've hunted through the NLA newspapers but that's like hunting for a needle in a haystack because of all the references to Adam Lindsay Gordon. He wasn't divorced (no record in the Vic Divorce Index). He wasn't in Melbourne Gaol either although he could have been gaoled somewhere else. (memo to self - gaols in other states). My feeling is that Gordon ended up an alcoholic, or homeless and where he wandered I may never know. His wife Emma became a "widow" when he either left or was told to get out. There was an Inquest when he died and I'll have to get a researcher in Melbourne to copy the records for me. I live a little too far away just to bop on down. Thank you for any help, suggestions, etc you may have. Rosemary Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA

    3. Well yes. But the maintenance of databases does involve a cost, and it can be high. That is why I hope access is free to members, but at a cost to non-members. Unless it is funded Liz, it won't happen. -----Original Message----- From: aus-sagen-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-sagen-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Liz C Sent: Friday, 8 October 2010 20:13 To: aus-sagen@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-SAGEN] SA BDM Certificates So much for the internet and family History being free... its laughable really. 3. Why do we need to support SAGHS in this way.. You still pay for the lookups whether you do it by subscription to the group or buying the Certificates. Nothing much is free in this day and age, except those people on groups such as this who help people out of the goodness of their hearts. Regards....
