    3. As stated by Helen, Chain of Ponds is not below water. I remember it well and can confirm that all properties were acquired by the SA Govt and bulldozed because it was in the reservoir catchment area. I thik the Hotel was the last place to go, and the historic cemetery is still there, and is known as the Philptown Cemetery. Christchurch, North Adelaide is almost certainly an error and probably refers to Christ Church (the Church of England Church) in North Adelaide. Graham

    3. Hi Helen, Ros & Freda Just to clarify a couple of things. Chain of Ponds is NOT under the Millbrook dam. The two townships that were submerged just after World War 1 were Millbrook and Sunninghill. Chain of Ponds was on the other side of the Adelaide to Mannum road spreading out towards Kersbrook. It remained a township until it was closed in the 1970s because of concerns of pollution contaminating the Millbrook dam. Helen, if you provide a name for this man I should be able to tell you if he was a resident of CoP or not. The bridge going across the river and other buidlings sometimes appear when the resevoir is very low. Today where the Gorge Rd and the Adelaide to Mannum Rd. intersect just above the Milbroook resevoir, adjacent to Mt Crawford Forest is classified as Chain of Ponds. There is no township nowadays. If you want to look at on google maps, enter in google maps search window : "adelaide-mannum road Gorge Rd, chain of ponds" OR "Mount Crawford Forest reserve" Its a long way from North Adelaide.
