Hi,, I was wondering if anyone out there knows the Yorke Peninsula well, especially around Moonta area. I have been going through the Adelaide Almanack for 1864 and Edmund was a sheep farmer at Tarrara. On the Birth CD, is daughter Frances was born at Barara, Yorke Peninsula. I am assuming this is the same place, just misspelt I can't find any town by that name, so my question is.............. Was it a small village/town in 1864 or was it the name of their sheep station? Thanks Tracey
Hi Listers, I am seeking information about this couple who married in Adelaide 6 October 1870 John was born c 1847 and died possibly 1928 at Magill. Isabella was born c1844, probably in England and died 16 January 1914. Her father was Henry Morris. If possible I would like to contact descendants of this couple or other folk who are researching this family. I have entires from B.I.S.A. and the BMD Cds. Mary Anne, Myrtleford, Victoria.
Many thanks for that, Freda. William had been married. I found an entry on Trove where he was jailed for claiming food vouchers for his children during the depression, but his wife and children had left him. I'm getting a completely different picture of my ancestors and their families now - they weren't all just hardworking , honest citizens after all! Kathy, have you tried the NLA Trove, there may have been a write up in the paper of the day Ros Found this re the "First" person: and Mrs. Mary Parrington, at the age of 86 years, who was the first white woman that came to settle on this end of the Peninsula. At sometime during 1913 and 1930 John Thomas EDWARDS was placed in care ( so rumour goes) and during sometime thru this same period he attended Maccessfield Primary school does anyone have any ideas on how i could find the proof of these situations. Supposedly his mother Ellen (yates) maried to Edwards died and the children were separated and placed in care I cannot find a death record for her as yet or what has happened to his siblings. Again any ideas help appreciated TIA Kathryn
