    1. [AUS-SAGEN] Aust National Maritime Museum - Welcome Wall names
    2. Ros Dunstall
    3. http://www.anmm.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=1550 In one of history's great migrations, more than six million people have crossed the world to settle in Australia. Was your family among them? We invite you to record a name on the Welcome Wall at the Australian National Maritime Museum. The Welcome Wall honours our immigrants, however they travelled, wherever they landed and wherever they live today. It costs just $105 to inscribe your name in bronze on the Welcome Wall. This includes a personal 50-word record of your family's story on the Welcome Wall website, where friends and family across the world can see it. Commemorate your friends or family who made the break to Australia! Every six months the museum unveils new names inscribed on the Welcome Wall

    3. Siegline, If you look further on Trove you will find several instances of William Boyce being in trouble with the law !! I would write to State Records and ask the question about further information on this as I believe they have some Jail Records there. 1. [AUS-SAGEN] Fwd: [FPFHG-LIST] get aboard the journey of a lifetime
    2. Ros Dunstall
    3. Get aboard the journey of a lifetime! History SA invites you to join the first fleet of nine ships as they once again set sail for the Province of South Australia. Bound for South Australia is a digital re-enactment of the voyages of those ships from England to South Australia between February and December 1836. This exciting project allows you to follow the journeys in real time, through the use of material sourced from captains’ logs, letters and diaries kept by the original passengers.  Brought together for the very first time, these sources combine to produce real-life accounts of these early South Australians – their hopes and fears, their excitement at the adventure, their moments of terror as they encountered the awesome power of the ocean. In weekly episodes subscribers and visitors will meet the people, and hear about their experiences in their own words. Passage onboard the fleet is open to everyone. The journey can be joined at www.boundforsouthaustralia.net.au.  Weekly entries will be posted on the website, or subscribers can receive email updates and notifications of new posts, or follow the action on a twitter feed. The first ships set sail from the website on 22 February 2011. PAULINE COCKRILL Community History Officer Torrens Parade Ground   Victoria Drive   Adelaide SA 5000 GPO Box 1836   Adelaide SA 5001

I am interested to find out what prison this William was sent to. I can only think of the Yatala goal at the moment. As I said he may or may not be "mine". Time wise if he is the one, would be cutting things a bit fine as he married in Adelaide in October 1862...still he may have been let off earlier!!! Thought if I had the email address for the prisons at that time could have a look through. Many thanks, Sieglinde.

    1. [AUS-SAGEN] Thomas Davis born c1830
    2. Ernie
    3. Looking for a Thomas Davis born circa 1830 in England, a widower, a carpenter, father Charles Davis My first knowledge of Thomas DAVIS is when he married Ellen Jane JAMES in 24 April 1878, but where had Thomas DAVIS come from? His marriage certificate says he was born England, 43 a widower, he is a carpenter living at North Adelaide and his father was Charles DAVIS. His wife was Ellen Jane JAMES 25, born Brompton, spinster, living North Adelaide, the daughter of William James. They both signed their names. In 2nd March 1879 a son Henry Malcolm DAVIS was born to the couple, the certificate now says he is a builder, living at Brompton. In 1881 his wife Ellen died in hospital, probably in childbirth. The son Henry Malcolm DAVIS was placed in care as a State Ward until he was 12 years old. On 8th March 1884 Thomas DAVIS married again, aged 45, widower, builder, living at Stepney, father Charles DAVIS. To Susan SMITH age 30, spinster, living at Stepney, father name William SMITH. Problem is I do not know enough about him to prove who I find is him. If he was born in England, why can't I find him in England? How did he get to Adelaide, South Australia? When did he arrive in Adelaide? Did he come with family to Adelaide? Where do I find death date? Appreciate any clues to finding this missing man Regards Ernie Davis ernied1@bigpond.com

    2. Sieglinde Boyce
    3. Dear All, I got so excited at the sudden thought just now to enquire about this man that I forgot to mention further details...sorry about this. Here are the extra details: William John Boyce married Mary Tabraham Hawkes 1st October 1862, The Minister was Rev. Gardner and the couple were married according to the certificate at his Private Residence. Now it seems I have made a mistake, had another look at the certificate and guess what.... it is a HELEN BOWMAN..spinster, Residence North Adelaide who was one witness and the other was MARY F. GARDNER. and someone weeks ago sent me some information that Rev. Gardner had a daughter by that name, so it may have been her or not. Sorry about all this confusion but what I am looking for is some shipping and or family information etc. of this HELEN BOWMAN!! In future I will double check my certificates before I rush off and post my query. kind regards, Sieglinde. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ros Dunstall" <daisygirl.1212@gmail.com> To: "SA List" <AUS-SAGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 15, 2011 1:16 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-SAGEN] Walter Bowman > Hi Sieglinde, > Please give us a reminder about dates and who did WJB marry pls > Ros > > On Tue, Feb 15, 2011 at 1:40 PM, Sieglinde Boyce <sieggy@bigpond.net.au> > wrote: >> Dear Listers, >> I am still carrying on about my elusive William John Boyce. >> Apparently just looking at the wedding certificate this Mr. WALTER BOWMAN >> had been a witness at his wedding. >> Wonder if it is possible to find out a bit about this man, ship arrival, >> family details. >> Most probably there is no connection between William John Boyce and >> Walter Bowman, >> then on the other hand....who knows, thought it was worth asking!! >> Wishing you all a very lovely day, >> Sieglinde. >> Advertising on AUS-SAGEN is forbidden by Rootsweb Rules. >> ------------------------------- >> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >> AUS-SAGEN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the >> quotes in the subject and the body of the message >> > Advertising on AUS-SAGEN is forbidden by Rootsweb Rules. > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > AUS-SAGEN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message
