    1. [AUS-SAGEN] Hamilton family
    2. Pam Studd
    3. Hello List, I'm researching a Hamilton family in South Australia. I know that Dudley Eyre Montgomery Hamilton was born in London in 1871, and died in 1947, presumably in South Australia. His first wife was Margaret and she was said to drown in Adelaide harbour. Perhaps there is a newspaper / police report. His second wife was Violet Clements - they married in Adelaide 1913. Can someone tell me if he married Margaret in South Australia, if so what her maiden name was and when she died. Did Dudley and Margaret have any children. Was Violet Clements born in SA? Did Dudley and Violet have any children? Where did Dudley die? Thank you, Pam Studd (Sydney)

    3. For school records, assuming you mean State Schools, the official repository, as with all government records is State Records. However, the SAGHS has a good collection of microfiche of Admission Registers. A comprehensive listing of records in both places can be found in* South Australian History Sources,* pages 67-72. As for the Savings Bank of SA, ask the Bank, which is now BankSA, now owned by Westpac. 3. Hi Listers, has anybody any info on a John,Margaret{2} Eliza, and Anne who arrived on the Camperdown in 1878 and,Emma and Bernard Riley who were born in Adelaide... Parents and 2 elder daughters came from Cavan in Ireland. Bernard was taken to Kalgoolie with friends of the family to live after margaret {mother} died in 1892. May {Emma} went up north to work around Mintaro, till she returned to Adelaide around 1896.Supposedly to stay and work with her aunt and uncle who I belive came out on The Lady Anne in 1858 , who were also Rileys, Reillys ,O'Reilly, and a Margaret Galivan, Galvone ,Galligan who married into the family.....Have been unable to find Anne or Eliza, but believe Eliza may have gone to america and lived on 5th avenue. around 1893..heard Anne lived at yakka or acacia street at seacliffe but have'nt been able to track her down. Think her partners name may have been Roberts...Any help greatly appreciated leonie donaldmckerlie1@bigpond.com

    3. Hi Barbara! We have the name Friend in our family history, but it was used as a first/Christian name. Have you searched for John Friend Elford or John Elford or Alford? If he had reason to disappear he may have been using a variation of his name or used an incorrect name when he married as Eliza was underage. Chris.
