I am seeking information regarding Heinrich Christian Julius Pfennig - I was told that he came to Australia on the Ceres in 1850 but the list indicates that that person was Heinrich Christian Conrad Pfennig Birth date - ?1829 - in maybe Hannover Germany His parents are unknown to me Date of Arrival and Ship in SA - unknown to me He married Maria Florentine Kaethner (Kathner) in 1853 in Lobethal SA - I think I was told he had been married earlier but I don't know who he was married to. He died in Friedrichstadt South Australia in 1898 and is buried at Hahndorf My branch of the family is from his son Adolph Gottfried Hermann - he (AGH) came to Natimuk Victoria aged 21 in 1886. Is there anyone on this list researching this family? Thanks Robyn
Dear Anne Andrew Gut Peake in "South Australian History Sources" has an excellent and detailed list of photographers and dates to 1945. The book should be in all genealogy libraries. The book is an invaluable source of information for SA. I know this is a long shot, BUT I am trying to find any information on the little town of TALIA, situated between Venus Bay and Elliston on the West Coast of Eyres Peninsular. Particularly after photos and information on the buildings in the town. Currently there is only the original town hall the shop and one house left. I feel there is a great need to collect information before it is all gone. Thank you Anne Menadue
Thankyou to Sheelagh and Jenny for responding to my query. Cheers Maxine
Hi Listers, I wonder, could someone check for the marriage of Herman (Harry) ELKAN, probably in the 1930s? Not sure of his wife's name, or even whether the marriage took place in South Australia ... he spent much time overseas, working as a dentist. Many thanks, Lesley (In Nundle, NSW)

Hi All Not sure if this will help, but I find Trove Newspapers very good: http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper Type in your name or in this instance "hansom cab licenses", you can choose the state and even the newspaper you want to search. Good luck! Ros PS You can register and correct any mistypes as you go, it doesn't take long and will help others who are searching...
