Some thoughts: The cornices could have been spare pieces he had. Was he a builder or involved in the trade? Oleos is a vegetable oil according to the dictionary - could the word be transcribed incorrectly? What date was the document? What era was this? Did the family come from a different language speaking background than English? Chris. Wondering if anyone can help out with these queries. When one of my ancestor's had to sell all of their property there were a couple of strange things in what was listed for sale. One was cornices, thought they would stay with the house. The other thing was oleos, does anyone know what that are. Cheers Judy

Dear Listers, Have just found out yesterday that "perhaps" William John Boyce was born in Plymstock, Devon...a lot of of the information seems to add up. But of course have still not found him on the shipping registers. The reason for my query is the following: If in fact William Boyce (the father) married Sarah Andrews in 1835 at Plymouth..had the thought that perhaps a member of her family (Andrews ) immigrated to Australia and there may have been a connection with my William. His parents may have died earlier as I notice that William is on the 1851 census....age 16 years and listed as Labourer, staying with his grandfather John Andrews. I know is it a long shot, but just thought would ask!! Many thanks, Sieglinde.
Can someone please look for 3 marriages after 1920 Francis COOK Winifred May COOK George Francis COOK all children of Samson COOK Thankyou Helen
Dear List The Glasner / Glazner request has been answered. Thank you to Tracey, who found this marriage in 1869, in the Victorian records, and under the spelling of GLASSNER. Kind regards, Rowena
Dear List, I am looking for a marriage, and possible emigration record for: William Henry Andrew GLASNER or GLAZNER. His children were born in Victoria from 1857, under the name Glasner, but he was buried under the name Glazner, and his children used the name Glazner. It also sounds a German name to me. He married a Helen CARROLL, and I'm unable to find a marriage in Victoria for them. He died aged 78 years in 1907, in Maryborough, Victoria, so born c.1829. His wife Helen (nee CARROLL) died in 1918, aged 82 years, so born c.1836, and her parents were given as John CARROLL and Bridget HIGGINS. Thank you for any help with this look-up. Kind regards, Rowena

Hi John, I suspect this is him on the national Archives of Australia website: http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch/index.aspx A general Record Search comes up with LUCZYC, Grzegorz Others of the same surname come up, too. It looks like these records are not yet digitised, but I'm sure somewhere on the website it will tell you how to order copies of the documents. I did it years ago for one of my ancestors, but can't remember how. It was certainly worth it. It's time to ask for help with this so far impossible task. I have long been looking for the death of John BROWN, who was born 1822 in Ayrshire, and came to SA with his family in 1860. By 1867 he had taken up the "Waste Land of the Crown", Mt James Station, west of Beltana in the Northern Flinders. There are various references to their life there in station diaries, and newspaper reports, and he appears in directories until 1884 as a Stockholder at Mt James. Then he vanishes. I know he had died by 1916. Please, I do not need death lookups, I think I have looked at every death certificate of a John Brown in SA, and discarded them all, with one exception. There was a death of a John BROWN on 31 Dec 1891, labourer, in Melrose. He was aged 73, so is a possibility...informant was not a family member. Any clues as to how to find out if he is mine are welcome...I was wondering if he appears in any directories there. I am reconciled to the fact that he may have just quietly died alone in the desert, but will look for a while longer! Thanks Jan
Hi all I am wondering if anyone could do a look up for anything to do with a Joanna (Johanna) O'Neill born about 1840 in clare, IReland She is in South Australia with her brother Michael O'Neill (I think) I have an arrival in 1857 on the Stamboul. She is a sponsor of her niece Johanna O'Neill who was born 1869 in Chinkford, Clare, South Australia. She is then named as Joanna O'Neill so she may not have married..
