Hi Judith, It probably depends on the section your granduncle is buried in. I have a few people buried in road 5 area with apparently strangers, many years apart. I found this thesis online that said the road 5 area was indeed for pauper burials. http://ehlt.flinders.edu.au/archaeology/department/publications/PDF%20Theses/Muller%202006.pdf Best wishes, Jenny Coates www.jcch.com.au
Hi Listers, Thanks to Maureen I have now located my grandmother's brother in the online burial records, however this of itself has created a mystery. My grand uncle is buried in the West Terrace Cemetery but there were two other burials in that grave. To the best of my knowledge they are not connected. The first burial in the grave was 1866 then my grand uncle was buried there in 1908 and a final burial was in 1942. There is no mention of any grant or expiry date in connection with any of the burials. I am wondering whether they were public/pauper burials? Did they have such a thing in West Terrace Cemetery? Regards Judith
Can someone please lookup the marriage c1850 of George Parson SIMPSON and any children born to him Thankyou Helen
Hi List, Could someone please suggest where someone could be buried in 1899. He died at Marion. I always thought he was buried at the Brighton cemetery but the council have not been able to find a record at North Brighton or St. Judes Cemeteries. He was Church of England. I have just found out his wife was buried in West Terrace but there is no mention of him. TIA. Margaret Boots.
Hi Margaret, St Mary's Anglican Cemetery is the only other possibility in the immediate vicinity. There is a listing at www.australiancemeteries.com/sa/mitcham/stmarysdata.htm Cheers, Barry Leadbeater www.familyhistorysa.info -----Original Message----- From: Margaret Boots Sent: Sunday, April 17, 2011 6:47 PM To: aus-sagen@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] Burial in the Brighton/Marion area. Hi Kate, I would suggest ringing the cemetery and asking if they can give any other information seeing that you have a death notice, which says person was at Centennial Park. Perhaps, if she was cremated but ashes taken to another location, then in most cases, an entry is made that shows cremation only, but this may have been missed on this occasion. mistakes do occur. regards Freda ----- Original Message ----- From: "P & K Lucas" <pklucas@tpg.com.au> To: <AUS-SAGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 16, 2011 11:53 AM Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] Unable to find burial at Centennial Park cemetery > Hello > I have been unable to find a burial at the Centennial Park Cemetery > Adelaide > > for ELMER 1994 > There is one entry for ELMER but this is not the one I am after > I got the name of the cemetery from a newspaper article on the death > > I have checked both name search and map search > Its possible the newspaper article was inncorrect? > Kate > > > > AUS-SAGEN Archives are here: > http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/AUS-SAGEN/ > > Websites of Interest on our Blog: > http://aus-sagen-genealogy-websites.blogspot.com/ > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > AUS-SAGEN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
