Hello Ros & Listers, thanks for this information. Can you tell me about the ship lists for "City of Adelaide" coming on her many voyages to SA. I looked for the passenger lists recently but only several exist for "City of Adelaide". Our Charles Mason PEARSON & family are not in those few lists, or any other ships lists in c1854. My question is, would there be a different set of lists for those passengers _boarding_ ships in Edinburgh that are not available at the Archives in SA? Thanks, Deirdre Looking for Charles Mason PEARSON & John HARLEY > Clipper Ship 'City of > Adelaide'<https://www.facebook.com/clipper.ship.cityofadelaide> > Calling all volunteers and supporters.. > > The Board of the City of Adelaide Clipper Ship invite all who would like to > volunteer their time to preserve, restore, or support in other ways, to > attend a meeting at the Port Dock Hotel, Todd St, Port Adelaide at 2 pm > this Sunday 16 February. > >

https://www.facebook.com/Minersmemorialgoldfields?hc_location=timeline "A Most Unusual Story" there is a strange story about one of the men who are listed on the Monument, Victor Watts! Some years ago I had a call from a home owner to say that he had just bought an old house in Boulder and while he was digging in the back garden he came across a cemetery headstone. He said he wasn't very keen to have it in his garden and as he knew I was interested in local history he thought I could help. Of course I was intrigued to see it so with some friends we went to see what it was he found. It was indeed a very large marble headstone about 1.5m high and had been placed face down as part of an old path. When we were able to turn it over (not easy as it was incredibly heavy) we saw an inscription as follows in pristine condition: In Memory of Victor Watts Native of Burra SA Accidentally killed on the Perserverance Mine 22nd May 1902 aged 28yrs Late captain of Mines Rovers Football CLUB<https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mines-Rovers-Football-CLUB/208366895849958> Erected by his friends and club mates. A quick check of the cemetery records showed that Victor was buried in the "Pioneer Cemetery' in Boulder which closed in 1904. There was no headstone on his grave. Great effort was made to find any relatives and the football club was also informed but with no luck. I think what probably happened was that the headstone was made (incidentally I was told that the marble used was of very high quality) and as the cemetery was going to be closed the family may have decided to have Victor moved to the new cemetery, which did happen in a few cases, and it just got forgotten about. Victors headstone is now stored safely at the Kalgoorlie Cemetery and their are plans to reinstate it at the Old Boulder Cemetery when current restoration work is done by the Eastern Goldfields Historical Society. I hope that one day Victor will get his headstone after all.
Good afternoon. I would like to contact this person, with regards to some information I have been given on an OLD program. Supposedly it is South Australian. thank you Lyn Schryver Western Australia [email protected]
Good morning, I'm searching for the children, or a relative, of David Frederick Hart. He was the son of David and Annie Christina (nee Kelp). David was born on 5 Dec 1911 and served in WWII (S42465). There is a record of a marriage between a David Frederick Hart and Ethel Gertrude Kildael in SA in 1934. I don't know if this is the same person I am researching. This search is so I can return one of David's WWII medals to his family. Glyn Llanwaarne Lost Medals Australia lostmedalsaustralia.blogspot.com <http://lostmedalsaustralia.blogspot.com.au/>

I can't know for sure, but I imagine those arriving via these cargo ships, may have had a more comfortable voyage. The DARRA passengers seemed happy with their voyage ... I wonder who misbehaved during services <smile> Three more steamboat passenger list for 1831. Some annoying entries with initials only. These lists were compiled for accounting purposes only, however, some compilers were far more diligent than others, and have really helped researchers. o Ship Arrivals: o Ships to Quebec 1831 (second page finished up to August) I'm glad to be adding more newspaper accounts, as this 2nd page includes the arrivals of some of the Chelsea Pensioners to Upper Canada, 1830-1839 (two pages), aboard the Hebe, from London, the Mint from London, and the Kingston, from Waterford. Please share this *new* for TheShipsList website email, with any other list to which you belong if you think it might be of interest or value to those list members (in other words, on-topic). Ros Congratulations on the return to Adelaide today, of the 'City of Adelaide' !! Well done Jean
I can imagine there are lots of births in Medindie as in the Briar Ave address the Salvation Army had a hospital called Mc Bride's which originally catered for ' unmarried mothers' and then for the the general population - as per my Salvation Army Family. It was donated by Sir George Hawker and is now an imposing private home after closing in c 1970's. Hope that helps. Hi Pat Where are you looking and what is the surname you are looking at? Medindie has been there a long time as a inner suburb of adelaide Does it give a district code and if so what is it? Looking at SA Birth's cd's I get a "nil return" putting in MERINDIE as place of birth. Hi, I have just noticed a variation of either spelling or mis spelling of a place of birth etc of a large number of my family born in South Australia. I have MERINDIE, but I note that now it appears to be MEDINDIE. Has this place changed since late 1800s, or an error on the bmds or have I just misread something and propagated the error. Some guidance would be wonderful Thank you Pat
