Hi Jill, I found this link http://pandora.nla.gov.au/pan/21523/20011116-0000/5kareunion.senet.com.au/pa ges/history3.html This has him at 5KA in the late 60s. 5KA described him as "Mr Controversial". As you pointed out there are links to him at 7HT, Hobart. At 7HT, at about the correct time, see here. http://sevenht.wordpress.com/ Could Dr Charles Lumsden-Hughes be Chas Lumsden? 7HT describe this announcer as, "notorious". Another lead (perhaps a red herring) can be seen here. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1300&dat=19720524&id=9NdjAAAAIBAJ&sjid =tJADAAAAIBAJ&pg=7011,4949404 This is a report of a 33yo called Charles Galloway Lumsden-Hughes, having a scrap with Police. Good luck. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Friday, 14 February 2014 06:37 To: [email protected]; Morley Subject: Re: [AUS-SAGEN] 1960s Radio >From LINKEDIN Charles Lumsden CEO at Lumair Pty Ltd Queensland, Australia Airlines/Aviation Previous Lumair Aviation & 3UZ,5KA,5AD,7HT, Ansett Education Georgetown University -------Original Message------- From: Morley Date: 02/14/14 06:46:33 To: AUS - SAGEN Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] 1960s Radio I am guessing there are people out there who were around in the 1964 the Time the Beatles hit Adelaide Can any one remember this man on the Radio Chas LUMPSTON "Hi there, you there, me here, this is "big C little h a s" I have googled him but because I cannot spell his name and cant fin find him Nor do I remember remember what Radio Station 5KA - 5DN - 5AD he was on I am getting nowhere Apparently he went to Tasmania after he left here? 3. Dear Listers, Have just now gone through my paper work and trying to tie in a few loose end. It is regardingThomas Brooks of whom I have been trying to find some information. I have a letter here sent to me 2012 and a death notice: BROOKS..on the 14th May 1892, at Adelaide, Thomas Brooks aged 83. An old Colonist. And found another letter of the Admission to the Destitute Asylum 27/2/1890 of Thomas Brooks aged 81 years suffering senile decay. The poor darling seemed to have been shuffled around various relations. First he lived with his son-in-law Henry Fox at Whyte, Yarcowie...this is why I have the feeling that he is "mine". Anyway apparently after living there for 20 years the arrangement to look after dear Thomas was no more available. So he had been put on a train to go to his son John at Kaniva, Victoria. This arrangement was not suitable as this son was in poor circumstances. I wonder if dear Henry just put the father on the train without forwarning his brother??! Letters had been sent to 3 grandsons Arthur, Frederick and Henry Fox for assistance. He died on the 14th May 1892 from senile decay, he is burried at West Terrace Cemetary. In time I might ask someone to look up the Fox Family...to make sure that there is a real connection. many thanks. Sieglinde.
