    3. Hi All Could someone who has the bdm for Vic please look and see if they can find anything on Maria Brockmann and her husband Johann Heinrich Friedrich Lubcke. They were married in Adelaide on 26 Mar 1860. I can find nothing more on them after that and I was wondering if they had gone to Victoria. 3. It seems Rhonda has solved my question and it only took one hour What a list! As it said in her obit ONLY daughter of William of Wiltshire? This families other daughter Elizabeth died during the voyage how sad. I think this should have read only daughter of William of Berkshire What's is a county between friends I am going to follow this family and see where it takes me Thankyou all heaps for your suggestions Sincerely Jill From: Rhonda Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2014 6:03 PM To: [email protected] Subject: re CHANDLER Hi Jill The Emigrant Register cd has the following which is usually fairly accurate though does not name spouse and children. The ages of the children may clarify the situation? Embarkation No 2325 on the Asia has William aged 30 agricultural labourer, wife aged 31, daughters aged 6 and 4. Embarkation No 4850 on the Diadem has William aged 29, agricultural labourer, wife aged 28, three sons aged 10, 5, 2, and daughter aged 5m Cheers Rhonda

    3. The William CHANDLER and Maria MACKLIN who came out on the ship DIADEM in 1840 Had a Martha with them - this Martha was suppose to be the one who married William MUNDY But if this is so she died in 1905 Then why did her parents have another girl in 1846 and named her Martha as well if the other one was still alive They then had two more girls Lucy and Fanny In Martha's obit in 1905 it says she was the 'only daughter' at first I thought only daughter alive in 1905 but that was not so but the others were married here is SA My husband says they are related to George Foreman call them all Martha smile? You must admit this is weird Jill

    3. Hello I have a problem I have been trying to find Martha CHANDLER birth in Wilshire c1830 In her Obituary it says her father was William CHANDLER of Wiltshire and it also says she was 75 years old when he died in 1905 – The Register, Adelaide, SA, Thursday 5 January 1905, page 3 Now I know an obituary is only as good as a grieving family member but could so many people be so wrong Most of the people researching her say her mother was Maria MACKLIN but this would mean Martha was born 4 years before they married and there is no base born child recorded Martha’s obit say that she came to Sth Australia with her parents on the ASIA but they are not listed I then found them the year after in 1840 if it is them on the ship Diadem I see some of the people say she was born in Berkshire one say Leicester and another in Hampshire but clearly in says Wiltshire in her obit. Can anyone please bring some sense to this for me She married 26 December 1849 in Adelaide Bride 18 Groom 26 Bride’s dad was William CHANDLER Groom was William MUNDY William and Maria had several children in Little Bedwyn in Wiltshire I did find a Martha born in Wiltshire he mother was Sarah and Father William? 3. It's not the same as Trove but still useful - try http://www.nla.gov.au/app/eresources/item/4314 for British newspapers from 1600-1900. You need to be a registered user of the National Library or maybe your local library has access. The library also has The Times Digital archive 1785-2008 http://www.nla.gov.au/app/eresources/item?id=1088&loaditem=true and the Burney Collection of 17th and 18th century newspapers http://www.nla.gov.au/app/eresources/item/3304 I think the National library insisted on an Australian residential address to send the membership card to, which took a few days, but that may have changed by now. I've found a couple of possible deaths at Cheltenham in 1888 and 1916. How much family detail is on these death certificates in South Australia. Regards Chris Cessnock

    3. Is anyone able to help with finding a birth for Selina Jane TURNER. She married John Haley Morres MYERS on 9 Oct 1870 and was 20 y at the time. Her father was Robert TURNER. I have been unable to find anything for her (checked SA, Vic, Tas) and I am now thinking that she was probably born while her mother was in transit from Launceston to Adelaide. If this is so, would there be any likely record? It was orignially thought that the parents moved to SA in the early 1850's but with information gleaned from Trove I now believe it may have been 1849/1850. This would also fit with the age of Selina on her marriage certificate. If this is the same girl, she was a witness on a marriage certificate (her half brother) in 1864 which means she would have been 14. Were they allowed to be a witness at that age? Thanks in anticipation. Maxine

    3. I found FTM 2014 really useful, especially the new facility to 'dismember' an existing tree, ie. to be able to make a new tree from a branch of an existing tree (after which that branch in the old tree can be deleted, or not, as desired). That would be useful if one wanted to publish a specific branch rather than one's whole tree, or lop-off seemingly irrelevant branches but still save all the research 'just in case'. I also like the facility to list wives by their married surname, in addition to their maiden name. --Barry--

    1. [AUS-SAGEN] Lottie May Boyce and James Raynor Scoble.
    2. Sieglinde Boyce
    3. Dear All, I am just so very impressed with all the kind people who sent me answers to my query. I have stated before and do so again...how very impressed I am with all the help that this wonderful Site has given me over the years...and of course many other Researchers. Just as an aside it looks as if perhaps the younger children moved with their father William John Boyce to Broken Hill where I presume he found work. His wife Mary Tabraham Hawkes had died in 1883...age 45 years, when Lottie May was only 2 years old. Then of course in 1884 William married for the second time. Ann Hall (nee Scott). Over the years have tried many times to find out what Mine etc William had worked at. Also tried to find any school records for the younger children. Then on the other hand the younger children may have stayed behind in Adelaide with his second wife Anne... Ann Hall (nee Scott) became a widow in 1882....she had been 19 years on her wedding day and Benjamin Hall had already been 35. So dear Anne was left a widow in 1882 and my husband's Ancestor (William) in 1883. Ann Scott and Benjamin Hall had 8 children...so between them there were 14 children. Would be lovely to find out if Anne followed her husband to Broken Hill. I do not know when William John Boyce started work in Broken Hill and in what capacity. All I know for a fact is that he died 20 September 1888...and according to what I have been told was burried as a pauper. Unfortunately there was no worthwhile information on his death certificate. No name and occupation of father or Maiden name of mother. It did not mention how long he had lived in the Colonies which would have helped me trying to find out his arrival. It just listed married but not to whom. So he was either unable to respond..in a coma etc. or he did not choose to remember!! Whatever the case it was very sad the he died without much fanfare at age 53 years. Thank you once again for your help. Sieglinde.
