    3. I now have a copy. I left my details with one of the on-line secondhand book sites. I think it was www.abebooks.com My name was on the list for a number of years. Finally, after a few acknowledgements at a price - I felt - over the top, I received one that was within my price range. $48 is what I eventually paid, plus postage and handling. Lovely, clean copy. I would have paid up to $100 but no more. regards to all Suzy

    3. Hi Jill, I have the 1st Edition up to 1984. I doubt if you would buy one unless at a garage sale or secondhand book shop. Were you looking for anyon in particular? The index is by surname and no given names shown in index, only when you look them up do you see the given names or in some cases initials only regards Freda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Morley" <[email protected]> To: "AUS - SAGEN" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 27, 2014 7:22 AM Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] Hotels in SA > Good morning I wonder if anyone on this list has this book? > if so can they tell me where they bought it? > I want to buy one but cannot find one anywhere new or second hand? > > Hotels and Publicans in South Australia 1836 March 1993 > Second Edition > [Revised] 1999 by J.L. 3. Hi Tim and Listers. About 20 Years ago the Duryea Photos used to be on display in Adelaide's Mortlock library in two large mosaics of photos of Old Pioneers' and Ladies. But ladies were labelled as Miss or Mrs only, no Christian names. At the time I was trying to find GGG-Grand Mother Anne Hall, but frustratingly there were 3 Mrs. Hall among the photos. In my case none seemed old enough, so I doubt she was there. Plus the fact she died not long after the event. 3. This data base was a work in progress when Brian Condon, its creator died. As a result there are many mistakes within it, not least the variations for the names of schools - there can be as many as half a dozen variations in how the school is indexed. I think it only goes up to the 1930s but due to its untimely cessation, this varies. I'm not sure what records Brian was using to create his data base. Coincidentally I was working on a similar data base, not knowing that Brian was well advanced on his. I was using the Education Gazettes, but these do not provide the inspector's reports of the abilities of teachers and as a result was not as comprehensive. When I found out that Brian had a similar index, I immediately stopped mine. However, not with standing the problems with Brian's index, it is a valuable resource on this employment group, particularly as so many women were employed. They had three children as far as I can figure 1. Theodore Edward MEYER Born 11 June 1870 Mount Gambier [ transcribed as Tara? male child] in the SA records he married: Margaret COLLINS 2. William HUGH MEYER Born: 29 June 1875 Mount Gambier He married: Emily Gertude LITTLE daughter if William LITTLE and Elizabeth PEPPERILL 3. Herbert Ernest MEYER Born: 10 June 1882 Mount Gambier He married Ellen Lucy BYRON their daughter Elizabeth Margaret MEYERS born 7 April 1909 Rosaville, SA married: Roy Stanley Joseph LITTLE What I can't find is Edward and Elizabeth's marriage W=Edwards entry in to SA if indeed he was not born here? I have gone down the line of Edward Ellis MEYER who also had a pile of kids in Mount Gambier I am convinced this Edward is not of the same family? Cheers Jill [email protected]
