It shows Born 7-5-1827 Died 22-6-1872. In the book called The Barossa a Vision Realised which I have the only mention of the surname MAI are the following: Amongst the earliest Tanunda cabinet makers Heinrich MAI is mentioned. Under Tanunda The Governor proclaimed the District Council of Tanunda On 16th August 1855 and amongst the gentleman appointed was Carl MAI. Sorry MAI isn't mentioned in the S A BioGraphical Index at all. Hope this above is some help to you, wish I could help you more. 2. Christine Anderson
    3. I would like to thank Lyn, Sue Sifta, Deirdre, Robyn Coates, Ian in Perth, Stephanie Cocks for their help with this. >From a combined effort on their help I now know that. Alexander Durward is buried at St. Saviours but no Jane Jane has remarried after 1937 to John Ramsay, he died 1950 is buried Centennial Park but still no Jane. But I now have a death date for Jane Ramsay in 1962 so I will see if the State ref. library here in Perth has newspapers for her. It is like a giant Jig saw, no real picture until you have all the pieces. Many Thanks to all the wonderful fellow Genies for you support. Chris in W.A.

    3. Hi Christine This probably isn't connected but seeing you are searching. There is a Jane Durward in the Electoral Roll of 1937 in NSW. Australia, Electoral Rolls, 1903-1980 about Jane Durward (on ancestry) Name:Jane Durward Gender:Female Electoral Year:1937 State:New South Wales District:West Sydney Subdistrict:Golden Grove Address is 24 City Road Darlington On an ancestry tree it says she died in 1978 aged 97. Another says she married ? Ramsay in 1936 aged 55 and died in 1978 Happy to send you a screen shot if this helps. Robyn

    1. [AUS-SAGEN] Needing help, DURWARD
    2. Christine Anderson
    3. I am completely stuck on this one and would appreciate some help. Alexander DURWARD died at Fullerton on 16 April 1935 aged 59 yrs, he lived at 20 Seaview Rd Fullerton, a search on Trove did not turn up a funeral notice or family notices, there was an obit on 30 May 1935 but it did not mention where he was interred. I want to locate this. His wife was Jane nee BLACK born 1881 she , I believe, was still living in 1942 when her daughter married . I cannot find a death for her anywhere, and I have tried all states, no remarriage for her on the Sth. Aust. disc. I am hoping that she was interred with her husband and if I locate his resting place I will also find Jane. If she has remained in Sth. Aust. and did not remarry ( she would have not had financial worries that warranted a provider) it would mean she was 90+ when she passed away. I have tried West Tce with its associated cemeteries , also Centennial Park, with no results. There are so many cemeteries on the Australian cemeteries site and I have looked at a lot of them, some are headstone records and not necessarily the full register. Does any one have any suggestions apart from buying the death cert? Any help appreciated, Chris in W.A.

    3. I wonder if anyone on the list could help me in regard to three possible arrivals in South Australia between 1851 and 1854. Some members of the family initially arrived in S.A. and others in Vic. but these three still remain a puzzle. John McGRATH William DOORTY (DOHERTY) Michael O’GRADY. All of them were single at the time and all came from County Clare. I would be very grateful for any assistance. Tony O’Grady.

    2. Sheelagh Wiles
    3. Hi Listers I have a small hand drawn map of the area out from Laura, South Australia towards Rocky River (I Think) I have been led to believe that certain people were allocated a plot of land for work to the community or similar. Each plot of land had to open out to part of the river so they had water I am not sure how the people were actually chosen. Does anyone know the way this was done. I believe they were called "Blocker" Sheelagh
