    3. Thank you Bill that help me? Jill -----Original Message----- From: Bill Webster via Sent: Wednesday, June 01, 2016 8:30 AM To: aus-sagen@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUS-SAGEN] Irish records To add to Jill's. FMP has a reasonable run of Irish records including probate indexes, shipping, etc. FMP (except newspapers) is freely online at your library. Many of the records that some sites require payment for are also available online for free. Especially the site Irish Genealogy - http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/. It has some runs of parish registers including parts of Cork and Kerry, Carlow and Dublin City. Also the civil bdm registers from 1864 (and Protestant marriages from 1845). FamilySearch also has the same civil registrations, probate indexes and more. Information on relatives from Northern Ireland can also be searched for freely at PRONI. See information at https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/archives-family-and-local-history. A nation-wide survey was conducted in the late 1840s into the 1850s called Griffith's Survey. It is also freely available at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/. Unless living in a small city tenement (and even them sometimes) very many of the population are listed either as a tenant or the immediate lessor (who could himself be sub-leasing). So, before paying to research in Ireland, narrow down what you can't find firstly online for free. I have been having the greatest fun searching Irish records these past few years when I was warned that Irish records had all been lost. 1. [AUS-SAGEN] About Elsie saga
    2. D & J MORLEY via
    3. We have sent for another certificate this time we have told them we want a certificate without the surname blacked out We sent the money as well again Surely someone in that office will have some sense and send back the money [ twice is a bit much] It has been my experience in the game that second names - a lot of them- have been added after the birth So she may have been just Elsie in the records. I had a man who was just James in the birth and Baptism records in England but when he came to Aus he became James John nowhere was his name recorded at James John - this has happed a lot of time to me? So Elsie may just be Elsie and her mother may be a Hartman or grandmother ect Thankyou to all who gave me advice I will wait and see if they send back the real thing this time Jill
