Hi All, Oops! Sorry about that. For some reason I was thinking of the town of Bridgetown which is further south & is in the Blackwood district when I sent that message. William is actually in the Williams district. Sharon >Hi Ros, >The registration district for Williams would be Blackwood. Dear List I'm now looking for Sybil Blanche Williamson who married Edward Shugg at the age of 20, in 1937, in Adelaide. Her father was Herbert Graham Williamson. I would like to find her parents if her birth is impossible. Kind regards, Rowena
Is there somebody who may have access to a 1950s, 60s or 70s telephone directory for Sydney? I am seeking the address of a great aunt and uncle who resided in Arncliffe. The most likely entry would be Sykes, H F or Sykes, H F and V M. (Harold was a professional photographer who started business in Broken Hill). Perhaps even an electoral roll would be useful. Brian Williams Kingsley WA
Thank you very much Andrew and Sharon. I will send you the very unusual name offlist, Sharon. Thanks for the offer. Jan
Doing a bit of research into Arthur William Barlow, [1870-1966]. [Barlows Shoes}Can't find shipping for him, or where he was born. Can anyone help? Thanks Regards Dianne Researching PHILLIPS, TREWARTHA, NANKIVELL, CORNWALL MAYNARD, BERKSHIRE HOSKINS, SOMERSET. VORT WORLD WIDE
Dear Listers Would someone be able to look-up the deaths for Henry LISTON and his wife Mary Hannah (nee SHUGG). He was bapt. 1835 in London, and she was born in 1845, St Ives, Cornwall. I have their children's births, but would also like to have any death records for their children, Edith, Montie, Henry, Jessie, Robert, Ethel or Arthur. I've searched for a shipping record for Henry Liston, but without success. If someone could check whether there is a record on BISA, that would be fantastic. Mary Hannah Shugg emigrated on the Prince Regent from Plymouth in 1849 with her parents. Kind regards, Rowena
Hi Jan, I have the 1903 PO Directory and it just mentions Coglin St as being in Brompton Park and Brompton Park Extension. Brompton Park is noted as 3m NW from Adelaide by rail to Croydon or Ovingham or by Hindmarsh tram. Postal district and Corporation of Hindmarsh. Brompton Park Extension is noted as 3m NW from Adelaide by rail to Bowden or Ovingham or Hindmarsh tram. Postal district and Corporation of Hindmarsh. Brompton is noted as 3m NW from Adelaide by rail to Bowden or Hindmarsh tram. Postal district and Corporation of Hindmarsh. If you like to publish the names you are researching I could check the 1903 PO directory and see if I can narrow down the area for you. Brompton Park is now all part of Brompton. It was that part of Brompton which is closer to the railway line (i.e western end of Coglin Street). There is a Brompton Park Hotel, which is still live and flourishing and I had a meal there a couple of months ago. -- Andrew G Peake
