Dear List My great x2 grandfather's sister Elizabeth PASCOE married Henry TREVITHICK in 1836 Sithney, Cornwall. They emigrated on the Aboukir in 1847, with children Grace Dylan Symonds, Thomas Henry, Richard Pascoe, and Elizabeth Ann. The family spent some 6 years at Burra Burra (Henry working in the copper mine) before walking overland to Avoca, Victoria where daughter Mary Ann Catherine was born in 1856. Would anyone be able to confirm any births or death for this couple while in South Australia? Kind regards, Rowena

Kevin thank you very much for your reply and information. I'm am currently doing a one name search of all WESTON's in Australia because I couldn't find my ancestors. The people you mentioned below are on my spreadsheets FAM/37 (Philip James Weston ) and FAM/38 (Frederick Henry Weston ). I would be very interested in which family your ancestors are as I have two other SA Families FAM/25 (John Bailey Weston) and FAM/39 (Charles Weston) and several other individuals on my SA spreadsheet. I believe your ancestors would be on my FAM/25 sheet, as there are a few from Narridy and Crystal Brook. There are about 170 entries on this sheet and I can send you a copy if you are interested, all I ask is for you to confirm, amend or add to what I have. I do not pass on your contact details to anyone without your consent and I do not charge any fees. I am hoping to find my ancestors by helping others and it gives me something to do since I was forced to retire with a disability. I hope we can help each other. Cheers Don From the Hawkesbury below the Blue Mountains outside Sydney NSW.
I had a reply from Kevin WESTON and I tried to answer but wouldn't send (blocked). Please contact me again with alternate email address. I will also post answer on SA list.Cheers Don From the Hawkesbury below the Blue Mountains outside Sydney NSW.
Hi List, I'm hoping to find a Lois Aileen Richards in South Australia somewhere. She was born Lois Aileen Bath 5th Dec 1925 to Albert Tristram Bath and Ethel Elizabeth Learmonth in Rose Park SA. Lois Aileen married an unknown Rollison and divorced him before marrying a second time to Stanley John Kitto in Broken Hill in1946 (her address at the time was in Adelaide). She has a third marriage to a Ronald Albert Richards on the 27th April 1950 in Broken Hill. I have been unable to find either Lois or Ronald after their marriage ie on a 1954 electoral roll. I'm begining to think that they went back to South Australia as Ronald was born also born in South Australia 1923, Mother Violet Ethel Richards. If there was anyone who could help with a death or any children i would be very grateful. Kind Regards Ruth
Hi all, I am after death details for Patrick CASSADY who possibly died sometime between 1875 and 1877. The only information I have is that he married in 1875 and his widow Mary/May nee GROVES remarried in 1877. If anyone comes across his birth, I would be grateful for that also. Hmm, there arises another question. Did Patrick and Mary/May have any children in that time? Any help most welcome. Cheers Sue
Mike The Phillips in my direct line in my tree Starts From Warwickshire 1818 William John m Mary Ann Townsend 1844 UK migrated on the David McIver arrived Adelaide Nov 28,1859 Also have George 1855 Wolverhampton m Martha Aspinall Merseyside but I don't have a record of them coming to Aus this line links to WA I have another Phillips Thomas c 1870 m Clara Hill Kanmantoo 1871 Woodchester no info on where he came from I do know that in SA there are 3 separate lines of Phillips one in the Western Part of the state (William John), one centre in the Strathalbyn area (Phillip Thomas) and one in the Eastern part of the state. Was speaking with Alan Phillips (Alan Phillips alan@gould.com.au) when the roadshow was here on the Sunshine Coast Earlier in the year. He is connected to one of the SA families, which may be the one your looking for, as he wasn't linked with my William John line. bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike" <mpsangster@bigpond.com> To: "AUS-SAGEN" <AUS-SAGEN@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 11, 2010 7:12 PM Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] Phillips Family of england - Australia, etc. > Hi All, > I am trying to find some listeners out there, who are related to > the Phillips Family, > whose ancestors may have been related to the Families of Simpson Family > from Scotland, > whose G-Great-Grandfather's were David and Helen (Young) Simpson, who came > to live > in Victoria, and also John and Mary Pearson (Simpson - elder sister to > David Simpson-), > from Scotland, and settled in Van Diemans Land, (now known as Tasmania), > before some > migrated to Victoria, possibily with the the Henty Bros., to Portland, > Victoria, and opened > p this South - Western part of Victoria - (West of the Grampions, re > Casterton ; Hamilton and > Portland), into over 50 large Properties, etc. > Some of the Children of David and Helen Simpson, an Baker from > Hamilton, married into > the families of both South Australia and Victoria, whose > Great-Grandfathers were then known as > either Robert Phillips, and his brother, James Howard Phillips. Hi All, I am trying to find some listeners out there, who are related to the Phillips Family, whose ancestors may have been related to the Families of Simpson Family from Scotland, whose G-Great-Grandfather's were David and Helen (Young) Simpson, who came to live in Victoria, and also John and Mary Pearson (Simpson - elder sister to David Simpson-), from Scotland, and settled in Van Diemans Land, (now known as Tasmania), before some migrated to Victoria, possibily with the the Henty Bros., to Portland, Victoria, and opened p this South - Western part of Victoria - (West of the Grampions, re Casterton ; Hamilton and Portland), into over 50 large Properties, etc. Some of the Children of David and Helen Simpson, an Baker from Hamilton, married into the families of both South Australia and Victoria, whose Great-Grandfathers were then known as either Robert Phillips, and his brother, James Howard Phillips. Both of these 2 x Phillips brothers were born in England, but their late Father came from Milford Sound, Southern Wales and worked in the Shipping Industry. The reason of what I am asking, is the children then of Robert Phillips, of whom one of the children is Robert Norman Phillips, whose son is Peter Phillips, who wrote to me in 2008 recently, and details have come from his side of the Phillips Family, etc. Other name's I am researching for answers include as :-- James Howard (junior) ; Frank ; and John Pearson(junior) - all Phillips Surname. Of the other brother, James Howard Phillips (senior), I am looking for his son re:- Douglas Walter Phillips, and of his other children, I have his details. Any assistance or help of the Phillips names, that could be associated with the Food company that used to be D. & J. Fowler Pty. Ltd., from 1856 to 1965, where some of the Phillips names were associated as Partners and / or Directors, of this large Food Company etc., can contact me via AUS-SAGEN, here. Many thanks for reading the enclosed info, Regards,.......................Mike Sangster.

Dear List Could I request some SAGHS look-ups for the marriages and deaths of the following folk, all born to George Palmer: George Palmer, born 1845 London, died sometime in 1928? Robert Smith Palmer, born 1848 London, died sometime in 1926? William Simmons Palmer, born 1851 London, died in 1933? Margaret Palmer, born 1856 Sth Aust, married? John James Palmer, born 1859 Sth Aust, married? Sophia Coles Palmer, born 1862 Sth Aust, married? Many thanks for any help forthcoming. Kind regards, Rowena
The suggestion has been made that the SAGHS has many of the original BDM certificates which form part of the District Registrar's collection (as distinct from the Principal Registrar's set) and these can be searched and a handwirtten copy taken, to avoid paying the $41 fee payable to the Registrar. Listers have suggested that family history should be free. So should medicine, but try selling that argument to the medical profession (who also have a mortgage to pay)! The SAGHS microfilmed the District Registrar's collection, but somebody had to pay for the microfilming, it wasn't done by donation or government grant and they have every right to charge for the look up service. The Society does however, recognize that not everybody can easily access the library and there is a limited free service to country, interstate and overseas members. Non-members have to pay - but that is life, nothing in life is free! The SAGHS website states: A Research Service is available into resources within the Society's Library for persons living outside the Adelaide metropolitan area. A small band of dedicated volunteers provides their time and expertise to undertake the research. Members of the Society who live outside the Adelaide metropolitan area can receive 2 hours of free research into the resources of our library. Andrew G Peake
