    1. Re: [AUS-SAGEN] Folios and Pages on Certificates
    2. Ros Dunstall
    3. Hi Sheelagh, Lyn and listers, below is an example from a death cert: Date: 1929-12-28 Residence: Goodwood Death Place: Goodwood District Code: Ade Book: 517 Page: 304 This tells us that the registration district for Goodwood was Adelaide. The Registrar would receive a copy and a copy kept with the District registrar who in 1929 could possibly have been at the Police Station, or Council Office [for example]. So the death record is sent to the State Registrar and is filed according to the book and page recorded on receipt in his office. The original of the District copy for Dist. Ade is recorded at Unley Library and I believe the originals are now kept at State Records and are indexed at the library. A full copy of each District copy is kept at SAGHS. Two other District Codes are Hin [Hindmarsh] PtA [Pt Adelaide] -. the District copy for these two districts are kept at Hindmarsh Library and Pt Adelaide Library respectively. Other District copies are kept at the major Library in that area. So if you wish to order a copy of a certificate the Book and Page No are important for the search to find the correct person, although not entirely necessary as there is the name and date as a search reference also. Hope this explains these fields Ros On Mon, Nov 22, 2010 at 7:29 PM, Lyn oSchrvyver <schryver@i inet.net.au> wrote: > Could the answer be posted for others ? > > > >> Hello >> Can any one help with the Folios Numbers on certificates. 3. Hi Sheelagh, I know we have chatted about this William Chandler before. I found the passenger list for "HIMALAYA" arr 17.11.1849 and the Chandler family are listed as from Kent I went to FreeBMD but couldnt find a marriage for Matilda Dyke, altho there were several William Chandlers. [the nearest being in 1886 for a William and Matilda] Also found a Jane born 1841 Gravesend [Dist] V5 P178 William in Eastry [Dist] V5 Page 147 and Alfred in Eastry [Dist] V5 P:156 There was no entry matching for Arthur [eg 1 yr old, b/c 1848] and its possible he was born in other than Kent as the ship left from London. You may have this info, let me know if I can help further. This info doesn't match our William Chandler who married Maria Macklin.
