Di - what a great idea of yours and I have been reading the responses with great interest. I guess I am one of the "lurkers" on this list, but it is never-the-less, one of my favourite lists. Have used most of those previously mentioned. For U.K. searching my favourite is still Genuki. For Scotland, I use Scotlands People and for Ireland I belong to the County Cork and County Leitrim rootsweb lists. If anyone has a good site for South Africa I would appreciate knowing about that. However.. speaking as one who began her research several decades B.C. (that's before computers) I believe there is still a case for what I call "on the ground" research. Actually being in the locale of my ancestors and using local resources. Now I know that this is not always possible for everyone, and that the www has made a wonderful and easier route for researchers, but it concerns me that some folk only use the internet for their research. There are dangers in this. Please, dear listers, the internet is only one other tool in your family history tool box. Nothing is better than solid research skills. To rely on some-one else's research is fraught with danger. Verify everything you find. I make no apologies for sounding like a Luddite, it's just my 30-odd years of experience. Monty Smith.

I have heard that WTC is going on line, but there isn't any sign of it as yet. I believe someone on the list advised us of this a few weeks ago. We are all waiting - patiently. sorry this was suppose to got the list that would probably have been me, i have attached the email that i got from them back in July last year, but so far have not heard nothing. if i do here anything i will let the list know straight away, as it would be a useful tool samantha Hi Samantha, Please find attached photographs of the two sites. Our cemetery records will soon be available online (expected by the end of the year) - you will be able to peruse our burial records at your leisure, including printing location maps. However this will not extend to photographs of headstones at this stage. Kind regards Matthew Adam Team Leader, Records Adelaide Cemeteries Authority matthew.adam@aca.sa.gov.au
Does anyone know if West Tce Cemetery is planning to have a web search function in the near future as it must be one of the only capital city cemeteries not to. I also asked Ros off line if it may be an idea to request one of the list members who has a web presence to categories the 'helpful' sites so that it becomes a work in progress & continues as I am sure many readers have found the suggestions valid & helpful. >From time to time the host web site is changed & one needs to explore as to if it has been removed or just changed host location.
