Hi Judy I suspect you are looking at Thomas Kerswell ASLAT born 1876 Bedminster, UK, (from FreeBMD). In the SA births database 3 births are listed for Richard Tom ASLAT and Sarah KERSWELL between 1885 and 1887. Richard Tom ASLAT and Sarah KERSWELL were probably married in Newton-Abbot, Devon, 1874 (FreeBMD again) and had at least 3 children in Bedminster. Thomas Kerswell ASLAT was married 1907 in SA when his father is listed as Richard Thomas ASLAT. Thus the KERSWELL is his mother's maiden name and is gender non-specific. Hi Folks, With many thanks to Susie and Helen for their invaluable help to my query above I have now had my question answered. Kind regards, Judy.
A lot depends on the context of the original text. There was a thing called a Depasturing Licence - this article in TROVE details the Regulations for such licences in South Australia in 1860 ... http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/49892708 Regards ........ Kinchega Station, Broken Hill is a good example of this, it was over stocked and the land denuned of all natural vegetation, then after the sheep were removed (or most of them) and it became a national park, nature is taking over with lots of natural bush vegetation regenerating Helen
Judy & Listers depasture [diːˈpɑːstʃə] verb 1. (Agriculture) to graze or denude by grazing (a pasture, esp a meadow specially grown for the purpose) Cheers Jean

Hi Folks, Hoping a Lister may be able to put me right with the term of Depasturising Land. I have googled it and wondering if it means to put stock on the said Land.? I found it on TROVE and an article from the Government Gazette in 1844 Where my third great Grandfather was listed under that term. Many thanks in advance for any help with my question. Kind regards, Judy.
