Hello I was wondering if anyone on this list has access to Canada records? I just found a strange thing for a family I was looking for in London in the 1891 census it says one of their children was born in Canada? After further looking I found their eldest son born 1876 Bow, London died in Canada then they returned to England I do not know when or how they went As the father was a lighterman on the Thames I cannot understand this migration and return? I do have Ancestry.com but not the Canada and USA Package just England and Australia Not worth joining for one birth and one death In case someone can help here are the details James EVERARD and Annie EVERARD born born 1856 London The child that died in Canada is Leonard James EVERARD born 1877 London Died: Canada between 1875 and 1887 and the child born in Canada Albert EVERARD born 1885 Canada Anything would be great Thank you in anticipation Jill MORLEY [email protected]

Hi All, Many thanks to Freda and Richard for answering my query re the above. Alan Richards
Hi All, I have a W. Butcher as an innkeeper at the Kingston Arms Hotel from 1859 - 1862 and also as innkeeper at the Woolpack In at Reedy Creek from 1860 - 1862. I doubt that both are my relative to have two hotels at the same time but i may be wrong. How far is Kingston from Reedy Creek please? I am wondering what is registered in the Hotels & Publicans in S.A. book. Could some kind person who has access to the book be able to look it up for me please. Many thanks Alan Richards
Hi Alan, Reedy Creek is about 20Kms directly inland from Kingston SE, on road to Lucindale, so He may have been licensee for both hotels, which didnt mean he physical ran both himself all the time, he would have had staff. Hoad's book shows a W. Butcher for both hotels in the periods you showed. regards Freda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alan Richards" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 04, 2013 6:36 PM Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] Hotels & Publicans > Hi All, > > > > I have a W. That one was the Baptist Church. The Norwood Congregational Church was the one at the head of The Parade with the tall spire. I think the church that was just off Alexandra Avenue, Rose Park (not the Gartrell Memorial Church) was Congregational. I seem to remember that there was a church just above Osmond tce on the Parade on the Southern side, cant remember whether it was a Cong or Baptist church though (It would possibly have been around 138-140 The parade). Closest to being on Parade to Rose Park (Not the St. Giles Presbyterian church adjacent to the Norwood Oval) There is a building that looks like the one I am thinking of which is now Mary Martin bookshop at 140 the Parade. This wouldnt have been Rose Park though. If it was still in existence in 1970's , the UCA historical society may have something on it. Have a look at : > http://historicalsociety.unitingchurch.org.au/ < Rose Park had Gartrell Memorial Church in Alexandra Ave. Rose Park. regards Freda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Elliott" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 04, 2013 10:02 AM Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] THE PARADE, ROSE PARK > In 1883 my great grandfather built a Congregational Church on the Parade, > at Rose Park. In 1883 my great grandfather built a Congregational Church on the Parade, at Rose Park. In my life time I have always known the suburb of Rose Park to stop at Kensington Rd. Is there anyway I can find out if Rose Park originally went through to The Parade. I would love to know where the Church used to be. Cheers Judy
My John Holden and his wife and 3yo child travelled to Victoria in 1851, then went back to Kapunda a couple of years later (still had family there), had another child there, then went all the way back to Vitoria with 3 small children. He then bought good land in the Campbell's Creek area. It has been suggested to me that he took his gold back to SA, where they paid a premium, then went home.
