New for September 2013 is . . . o Ship Arrivals: o Ships to Quebec 1831 ...still in progress, however ... ... as I'd written last month, the first page completely finished .. with some really great stuff, even if you aren't looking for 1831 Quebec arrivals o Passengers: o South Australia o ship Asterope, from London to Port Adelaide October 30th 1873 o ship St. Vincent, from London via Plymouth, to Port Adelaide November 6th 1873 o ship Iron King, from London to Port Adelaide December 12th 1873 o o Quebec Steamboats o Chambly - 6th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 23rd May 1831 o John Molson - 6th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 28th May 1831 . . more than 1,000 passengers The last three lists of South Australia arrivals for assisted emigrants for 1873. These cargo ship passenger lists are rather interesting, but some do require quite a bit of digging to identify were some families come from. The IRON KING became stranded on arrival in about the same place the MARION wrecked in 1851, on Troubridge Shoal, but there were no fatalities or injuries. We now have 260 passenger lists of assisted emigrants to South Australia. The 1831 Quebec steamboat passenger lists are still coming along very nicely. My favourite this month is the 6th trip up for the JOHN MOLSON ... so many passenger but clear and detailed. yay! Please share this *new* for TheShipsList website email, with any other list to which you belong if you think it might be of interest or value to those list members (in other words, on-topic). Have replied to Sharon off-list with a probable match in 1890.
Hi All, I have been for awhile trying to track down the birth of my gg-Grandfather Thomas Henry TOZER who married Lucy Adele Black in Kent Town, South Australia on 13 Jan 1909 and died 23 June 1948 in New Queenstown, South Australia. According to his death and marriage certificates he was born in Gippsland, Victoria around 1887. His father is named as Henry Tozer. I have searched the Victorian BDMs but the only likely candidate I found was Thomas Henry Tozer b. 1888 to Thomas Henry Tozer and Mary Ann Grubb in Ballarat East, unfortunately if the BDM index is right, this Thomas Henry died in 1961 in Ballarat. If anyone has any clues as to where I might try next or knows of the family I would be eternally grateful. Regards, Sharon
Alan, I would be interested for you to show your statement works in the Mc Beth BDM cd's, which was the question that was asked, as I dont believe it does. Hi Emm, I don't know if this will work with a cd but try right clicking and "open with" Microsoft office. It has a facility to zoom and move stuff around. You might have to copy it to your hard drive. Hi Emm I am no computer expert: * with a new motherboard did you have to change operating systems? * were you able to re-use your hard drive? if so can you go to a restore point when it worked? * have you installed all the drivers for your computer - like the monitor driver or video card driver? * are you viewing through a virtual computer or using 32 bit w7 or w8? * is the font installed on your computer? * did you press control++? Sorry no immediate solution but someone else might have a solution. Cheers Robyn

Depasturing land is, as you say, putting stock on land. Depasturising is not the term, but probably springs to mind because it is the process-minus the de-of heating milk to kill the bad bacteria. In the colonial period one paid a licence fee and stock assessment for the privilege of using Crown lands for grazing. If you look in the SA archive you may find a map of your ancestor's run GRS 11676, 5 volumes, and you may find it. Cheers Kevin Brewer
I am helping a friend track down the above-named daughter of John Norman Tenison Woods. Prince Alfred College want to pass on an old certificate to his descendants which he won playing football for the school in the 1920s. My friend has discovered that he married Mary Austin Gryst in St. Bedes Church. Semaphore in 1934 and that their daughter Meredyth Tenison Woods was born 28 Oct 1938. Meredyth was head girl of St. Peter's girls school in 1954 and then went on to Adelaide University to do a Dip. Pharmacy. My friend has lost track after this and would very much like to know if she married and had children and if so, how to contact her so that the school can pass on the certificate to the right recipient. Any help you can give will be gratefully received. Best wishes Merilyn
