    2. Lyn Smith via
    3. Alan, Shouldn’t you have been looking in WW1? Go the National Archives http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx <http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx> Click on Record Search Click on Name Search Type in Rogers, choose WW1 records (unless you really do mean WW2) Search Refine this search result Type in Charles John, and you should see 4 names, only one Charles John. You can see his file, which says he was 25, so perhaps he’s not yours, born in 1881. OR, another way to search: From http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx <http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx>, type Charles John Rogers into "Search the collection” in the top right hand corner, and you’ll get a whole set of different results. The first one might be yours, and it’s WW2, civil construction corps. If this one is what you’re after, you can send an email request for a copy of the file at “Ask a question” at http://www.naa.gov.au/ <http://www.naa.gov.au/>. I hope this helps - don’t tear out your hair whatever happens! … there’s always the War Memorial site if NAA doesn’t give you what you’re after. 3. Hi Lyn She was a HUNTER and died SA in 1989, wife of George William HUNTER and buried in Salisbury Cemetery. I have no idea where she was born nor where she was married. There are a couple possibilities in the UK through FreeBMD. I am trying the simpler possibilities first. We will be getting her death certificate. Thanks for trying. 3. The ABC web news had this posting http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-01/victorian-section-9-archives-opened-for-2016/7031026 which stated that those records give glimpse of WWII-era justice - Three large bound volumes containing the criminal records of released Victorian prisoners have also been opened. . . files were originally sent to South Australia so that police there had a record of any former inmates who may have moved across the border. The government files, kept in climate-controlled conditions by Public Record Office Victoria (PROV), have been closed until now under Section 9 of the Public Records Act 1973, which requires "personal or private" records to be withheld from public view for a period of time. . . . . is among thousands of World War II-era files opened to the public today by the Victorian archives. He was said to have married a Kate Kernough I assume in United States of America and subsequently died there on 25 December 1926. Phiilip Smith was thought to have been brought up by his Smith grandparents but it is not known whether he migrated with his father. Can someone please look up migration records to ascertain when and if Laurence officially migrated....George LAURENCE SMITH, son of PHILLIP SMITH and MARGARET LYNCH, was born on 20 Oct 1856 and died on 25 Dec 1926 in United States of America at age 70.  Laurence married MARY WALSH, daughter of PATRICK WALSH and BRIDGET O'LOUGHLIN,  on 2 Jan 1883 in Port Pirie, South Australia. Mary was born on 1 Feb 1857 in Salisbury, South Australia, died on 15 Jan 1884 in White Cliffs Road, Booleroo Centre, South Australia  at age 26, and was buried in Pekina Cemetery, Pekina, South Australia. They had one son: PHILLIP.  Noted events in her life were:  She had a residence at Booleroo, South Australia. PHILLIP SMITH was born on 5 Jan 1884 in Booleroo, South Australia.
