Hi Marg, Can you not access the Adelaide Now website? The classified ads are on the top banner and if you select Tributes it will take you to the daily Death and Funeral notices. Theres been a 100 yr embargo on public access to NSW birth records for a long time. All the States have embargos on BDM records. Qld marriage records have been stuck on 1939 for ever. VICs marriages stuck at 1942. NSW has a 50 yr embargo .. They used to add the next year on 1 Jan but now its near enough a daily addition . So birth records for NSW nominally available to 14th Jan 1916 Bye MargM Beautiful NSW Central Coast --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
Alan, You could try Trove for a birth announcement in 1930. … you might be lucky. The marriage of the person you’re looking for might be in NSW bdm - marriages over 50 years ago are listed. Good luck, Lyn
Hi all, I tried searching the N. S. W. Bdm site but it only goes to 1916. I am trying to track down somebody born in 1930. Are these later records available to search please? Alan Richards
I am trying to find out as much as I can about the above person and his wife Sarah Bland. He is NOT to be confused with Percy Weedon Dyer his nephew and also living in Burra about whom I have much detail. Percy was christened 22 May 1814 and married Sarah Bland born about 1820 in Hampstead, London 1850. Percy died in Burra 23 October 1875 and buried in the Burra Cemetery. Percy and Sarah departed Liverpool 10th January 1860 on the "Grand Trianon" and arrived in Port Adelaide on 22nd April 1860. This is all that I have been able to find out about them. I do not know where or when Sarah died or where or when she was born. I have not been able to find our of she remarried as neither her death or remarriage appear in the SA BDM records or Trove. They appear not to have had any children. I would appreciate any assistance in breaking down this brick wall. Kind regards Ian Turnbull
Hi Ian, I have a very poor quality photocopy of the death certificate. I suspect the extra info is the occupation of her father. It was notified by the undertaker. Hi Leandra, We have a copy of Emma's death certificate and as we read it it has Emma's age as 19 years, Child of William Theeuff late of near Kooringa Labourer and Engine Driver. Deceased. William, the youngest brother of Emma died 12 days after Emma, also from Typhoid Fever. Leandra, it is great to make contact with you again. Hi Stephanie, Yes I have searched Trove. There is no mention of Sam Ford's engagement. The only record of Emma is a death notice in the newspaper which only gives her father's name. I've searched for photos in the State Library of SA. I've tried a reverse photo search with Tineye. There are 2 Ford family photo albums in the SLSA. The link I posted is the only photo of this woman in the albums. I have some copies of photos of the Ford family, including this one. I also have the book on the Ford family history by Patricia Lock. None of the contributors to that book know the woman's identity. I have searched through all the usual resources for the last 30 years. The only evidence of this engagement to date is a family legend and a photograph of an unidentified woman. Hello Leandra, Just a thought have you tried Trove? It is an unusual name so shouldn't be too hard to find at least 'something'. You don't say what information you have, i.e. BDM's or possible entries in the BISA? Hi All, Many thanks to Ray, Lyn and Marg who put me on the right track with Tasmanian BDM. Alan Richards
Hi Alan, LINC Tasmania (State Library) is a good starting point; http://www.linc.tas.gov.au/Pages/Home.aspx and in particular the family history page; http://www.linc.tas.gov.au/family-history/Pages/default.aspx the Tasmanian Names Index is a useful link, and register pages for pre 1900 births, deaths and marriages are linked to the relevant results.
