Have sent two births to George which appear to fit even though spelt HERON, and Bridget was BRODIE.... But 23/7 fits with first birth. Second birth date fits and at Coonatto, with same parents. Hi Everyone, There's a heritage tour advertised in the latest WEA course guide and I noticed this in the description: "The Little Para River rises near Inglewood passes Golden Grove at One Tree Hill and bursts onto the plains at the Old Spot, known for its hotel but also has a forgotten Wesleyan church and cemetery (1857)." Does anyone know where the church and cemetery are located and their names? I am unable to find them on Google maps and I've never heard of them. Or is the author trying to say that there's a chapel and cemetery somewhere on the banks of the Little Para, not necessarily at the Old Spot? Regards, Leandra Ford
Hi All, Thanks again for the numerous people that responded to my request to find the Census in the U. K. I are madly going through them. Many thanks Alan
Family Search also has searchable records for the UK Census years. https://familysearch.org/search/ In the "Find a Collection" field enter for example "England and Wales Census, 1881" Then in the "Search Collection" fields enter First Names and Last Names. Alan, You'll only get transcriptions for free. FamilySearch.org is probably the most comprehensive. Depending on which county, there are good transcriptions in Online Parish Clerk pages. Search Google to see whether your counties of interest have one. Dorset is really good. Hi Alan, It may depend on which part of the country you are searching in. I have joined different genealogical groups over the years, made requests for help and been sent the information. You could try FreeCEN, although this is a volunteer project and not everything has been transcribed and available to view. I believe Cornwall is complete and online through FreeCEN (but don't quote me). Also many libraries have Ancestry available for family history research, so you would have free access through that option. Hi Lyn I found 12 children in the SA births digital database which I have forwarded separately. ian in perth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lyn Smith" To:"SAGEN List" Cc: Sent:Mon, 18 Jan 2016 22:07:32 +1100 Subject:[AUS-SAGEN] Emma Cockrum nee Pearce Hello listers, Emma Pearce was born around 1857 at Mintaro SA, daughter of Henry Pearce. Her obit (1944 in Broken Hill) says she was one of 13 children. There was an Emma Pearce b 1856, daughter of Henry Pearce and Sarah Moxey, but I don’t know whether this is the same Emma. (I can only find 7 children of this couple!) Emma married John Henna Cockrum in 1878, and moved to Broken Hill in 1899 with her four surviving children. I’m hoping someone will be able to find some more information about the family for me, perhaps from BISA. (I think I have found everything Genealogy SA, Trove and NSW bdm have to offer about her.) I’ll be very grateful for any help you can give me. Hi, I have lost all my email contacts (at least for now), and all my digital photos have become very small files :-( , and I am trying to put together a family history "photobook". I am wondering if there is anyone researching William King and Emma Harrington, William King and Elizabeth Butcher lines who may have any photos of these people. Thank you Pat ------------------------- Email sent using Optus Webmail
I would like to thank all the wonderful people who helped me with the Adelaide Advertiser especially Ros. Cheers Margaret from Vic.
Thank you to Mary Ann and Lynne for all the information about the Pearce children. Looks likely that Henry Pearce and Sarah Moxey were my Emma’s parents. I’m researching the Cockrum family for a friend, and was interested to see the Pearce connection, because my Pearce ancestors were in SA at the same time. Can anyone tell me anything about Henry Pearce’s parents? There are single Henry Pearces arriving in Jan 1851 on the Bolivar and Sep 1852 on the Lady McNaughton, but no other details of their age or where they came from. still hoping.. cheers Lyn Dubbo > On 19 Jan 2016, at 5:59 AM, lynnethompson@internode.on.net wrote: > > > Have sent Lyn 12 children > >
