    3. Good advice to back up evrrything where it can be retrieved if something goes wrong. You could create a new family file with all the ones you want to transfer Elizabeth. 3. Allan, Yes you can drag and drop individuals from one database to another, or lines, or specify which classes of individuals within a line to copy over. But I haven't done it for a long time, so I will let someone else write the detailed instructions. Main thing is to take backup copies of both databases before you start, so if something goes wrong, you can zap the corrupted database and start again. 3. Hi Elizabeth, There are multiple ways to manage the spouse entered in error. 1. You could delete the individual via highlighting the individual and pressing the Delete key. 2. Edit the individual and change the details to be correct (name, DOB, location etc) 3. Unlink the spouse if you wish to reattach to the correct spouse Kind regards, Andrew Web: http://www.kempfamilyhistory.com Email: kemp.andrew@gmail.com On 14 September 2016 at 13:02, Elizabeth Fraser <elizabethfraser36@gmail.com> wrote: > How do I delete a spouse that was entered in error please? > > Elizabeth > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to AUS-ROOTSMAGIC-USERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    1. Re: [AUS-ROOTSMAGIC-USERS] Help with syncing please
    2. John, Valma etc, There are many ways of syncing two devices. Most people use the more modern methods, which rely on the “cloud”.Your files are stored on a remote computer and you access that via the Internet, using whichever computer you want to at the moment. The obvious disadvantage is that if you don’t have an Internet connection, you don’t have access to your files. That usually is not a problem, especially if you have a wireless Internet system. But if you are halfway between Kalgoorlie and Alice Springs an affordable Internet service probably won’t exist. If you have a modern Microsoft operating system you have a large allocation of cloud storage, called OneDrive, whether you are using it or not.No doubt Apple also give you cloud storage. If you have a Gmail account, they also give you storage.Otherwise you can use things like Dropbox, etc. These are the more modern methods.I haven’t adopted them because I haven’t gotten around to setting up the system I want.Instead I use a much older system. You may remember that Windows once came with a thing called Briefcase. That was designed to sync two devices, and I think it still exists in Windows 10.Using that via your home Wi-Fi system will save data usage.Data costs could be significant if you are always syncing to the cloud and you have a wireless system (if you have ADSL you are unlikely to use a significant portion of your data allowance, but you don't have Internet access once you leave your house).I abandoned Briefcase years ago when it modified all my Access databases. But I think that only happened because I pushed a wrong button. I now use an obsolete Microsoft tool called SyncToy.It is simple to use whenever it you switch from one machine to another. The initial set up takes a bit of care if you want to sync all your user files rather than just a couple of directories, but you would not call it complicated. Of course an Internet search will quickly find other tools for syncing, either cloud based or local device based. 3. Assuming you can network between your 2 machines why not backup the machine you are working on at the time then load the backup when you move to the second machine. Do the same when you move back. This would have the added advantage of two almost current backups on separate hard drives -good insurance. However, I can't find any instructions of how to do it. I thought I remembered seeing the instructions once before, but I can't find them. I know one can use RootsMagic-to-go, but I was wanting to avoid having to transfer data on a USB stick all the time. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.  John O'Regan 27 Nolan Avenue Mooroolbark Victoria, 3138 Australia Tel: 03 9727 3728 Mobile: 0423 777 804 Email: dadoregan@yahoo.com.au

I am wondering if there is any way to re-order the "Details" field in the "Edit Person" screen. I would like the "description" to appear after the Place Details and the Place rather than before in my "Details" field view. Many thanks Sandy ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to AUS-ROOTSMAGIC-USERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
