Hi all I had a surprise phone call from a lovely gentleman tonight - complete stranger but with one thing in common - family research. I firmly believe that 'what goes around, comes around' and that we are all connected 'by 6 degrees'. Can anyone help please as Michael Ryan does not have the internet, and I know that there are some wonderful people who may be able to help him break the brick wall. From family folklore, there were three members of the family who came to Australia ; Timothy, Peter and their sister Anne. Anne SEXTON married Michael McDONNELL on 20Aug1865. (possibly at the Catholic Church in Warwick - didn't write it down) Timothy SEXTON died 14 Aug 1887 *** Peter SEXTON married Bridget COSTELLOE on 26 Nov1872 at the Catholic Church in Warwick Peter and Bridget had three daughters: Ann born 1Nov1873 and married as Anne to Thomas MARRINAN on 19Oct1892 Mary born 28Dec1874 Ellen (known as Nellie) born 19Sep1876 and married Michael James RYAN on 06Nov1901 * (grandson is making the query) The problem is that folklore has the SEXTON trio with mother's maiden name of MADDEN (thus my connection) or some such spelling. However, when Timothy SEXTON died in 1887, the informant was Thomas MARRINAN (the future husband of Timothy's niece) and Thomas recorded the mother's maiden name as MARRINAN. I think Michael also said that when Peter SEXTON died, the informant was again Thomas, and the mother's maiden name is the same, or very close to being the same. My obvious reaction was that Thomas was a relation of the trio's mother and thus married a 'cousin'. However, folklore usually has a tiny grain of salt, and there is a need to dispell the MADDEN connection. So, the request is, does anyone know of the SEXTON family, has anyone done any research into this family? They lived at DEUCHAR near Warwick, and I understand that anyone who knows Warwick, will know the historic value of this area. Remembering that Michael does not have internet, so although I am a great believer in replying through the list, if you believe you can connect with Michael's family, please let me know your contact details "off list" and I will forward to Michael Ryan. (Michael lives in the same area as my mother has lived for the last 34 years, and his daughter went to the same school as my youngest sister (but his daughter is 4 years older then my sister).
