Hi everyone, Am I the only one getting a bit pithed off...I have a lisp!.. Nothing much, or very little, is able to be got, without crossing the palm with silver. Now, these are our records...we belong to them...we want them, but have to pay all sorts of fees and charges for public records...we cannot access them on our own, so need someone in power to do this...hence comes the fees... I often look through google, just putting in something like...freney, armidale, for example. Lots of sites come up but once you click, it is we have it, but for you to see it, it costs. Surely now and again, local societies can give a name out, mostly it is so we can get a certificate...but no...first pay, THEN we will see if they are there...comments please.. robyndehood. toowoomba. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daniels, Sandi" <Sandrah.Daniels@det.nsw.edu.au> To: <AUS-QLD-TOOWOOMBA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 16, 2004 8:46 AM Subject: RE: [AQ-TOOWOOMBA] Index to Immigrants 1900-1915? > Hi Tim > > Try this site: www.slq.qld.gov.au/scd/famhist/ to the State Library of > Queensland for Qld records. Hi Tim Try this site: www.slq.qld.gov.au/scd/famhist/ to the State Library of Queensland for Qld records. It is very useful - you may perhaps try the librarians for tough questions or maybe somebody could volunteer a lookup for you. Good luck. I have Ryans from Tipperary so I know how hard it can be. Have a great day. Hi Just a reminder that my " Old Newpaper Transcripts " can be found at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hcastle/index.htm Just click on Miscellaneous Transcripts from Australia, and put your name in the Box provided. These transcrips cover all states so if someone was from New South Wales but they died in Queensland then they will be on here. That is if their death was recorded in the paper that I took the Transcripts from. Please also note that I did not have every newspaper that existed, only some of them, but there is heaps of info in the ones that I did do and you never know, something may come up of interest to you. Cheers Bev

Hi, I am trying to find out when and where one of my rellies died so that I can obtain his death certificate. His name was Edward Klein and he was also known as Ted Klein or Theador Klein. Apparently his birth was not registered but he was born about 1887 at Meringandan. His parents, Christian and Catherina Klein (nee Holzwarth) had a farm in the Kleinton area. Edward became a farmer also, and on 29th April 1908 he married Annie Mary Montgomery at St Patrick's Church in Toowoomba. They had three children, Leonard, Vincent and Eileen. Leonard was killed (aged 20) in a sawbench accident while working on a farm at Goombungee owned by people by the name of Ruff and is buried at Douglas. Vincent is also deceased. Apparently Edward deserted his family, perhaps about 1916. I have traced all of his descendants and no one knows (or cares) what became of Edward. He and Annie were divorced in 1932. After Edward left his family, Annie owned the Commercial Hotel in Goombungee and is listed on the Qld PO Directory there from 1921 to 1930 and died in Toowoomba in 1969. There seem to be three Edward Kleins on the PO Directory in the Toowoomba area - at Wilsonton 1906-1933, at Greenwattle St, Newtown 1919-1933 and one at Kleinton 1915-1921. Perhaps the one at Kleinton is the one I am after. I would be grateful if anyone could give me some information on Edward or his ex-wife Annie or suggest where to look. I intend to check the electoral rolls at some stage. Ian Kelly Sandstone Point Qld
Anyone researching McGinley, somehow related to Nicolaus family, Mother was Thelma, several children became priests, (John, Rod, Sister Mary Partrina, and Mary Patrizia) other daughter was Mrs. Kathleen O'Rourke) and another son was Neil who lived at "Aileach" Greenmount. Any information very welcome. Betty Raffaele Cooma N.S.W.

Hi Listers, I am trying to reconnect with a Karen Watts, formerly of Bethania, who was researching the Ferdinand/Raymond families of Toowoomba/Inglewood etc. in latter half of 1800's. Her mother is Carmel Bates who is also into Fam Hist. Does anyone know her new address or phone number, as the number I had just rings out and she has apparently changed address. Maybe she will even read this herself and contact me. If anyone else is researching these families, I would be keen to hear from them also. Thanks John Williams(NSW)
