Hi, Would anyone out there have in their Tree or know of a Francis Henry HEMSWORTH, carpenter-joiner in Toowoomba in 1904, the son of John HEMSWORTH, Hotel Keeper, and Harriet HAYWARD or maybe Harriet Hayward MOODY. He was born c 1866. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has researched this line. Cheers Bev. Edmonds Toowoomba, Qld, Australia
Hi Courtney, There isn't a lot to see on the north side of Long Street going west along Long Street - the railway line now comes close to the end of the first block. Cheers Marionne
Hello all, Could sks with a current knowledge of Toowoomba tell me what I would find on Long Street today "Right side, heading from Main Range, after Spiro Street"? I'm hoping to get up to Toowoomba in the near future to do a bit of poking around but it might save me some time if I knew that the whole block is now a carpark, for example! Many thanks, Courtney -- Courtney Pedersen Brisbane, Australia Researching: BLAYNEY, FAY, JENSEN, KELLY, MOORE, PEDERSEN, RIEMER, TENNANT
Stephanie There was plenty of assisted immigration during this period, with an emphasis on hardworking protestant folk. Emigration agents did the rounds in the UK and plenty of Ads in the local newspapers. All emphasised a better life and with the added bonuses of land grants....hard to resist if things were not A1 at home. Groups of people often came together or as a "chain reaction" from some areas.
