    2. I would also like to Thank the administrators for all their work on this List over the years. As with many other people I was helped to go through those brick walls - and am sosorry to hear of the closure.  Haven't use list for ages but remained on same in caseI might be able to help someone. I have found the lists to be extremely helpful to so many people over the years. To suggest we all now use Ancestry is just another seed to plant in people's minds that Ancestry is the ONLY way that you can pursue family history. This perception also comes from Ancestry's own deluge of advertising. Nothing beats your own investigative skills on many different platforms - Ancestry being only one such platform. Unfortunately, people are not learning how to research but expect to find it all on Ancestry, already done for them, (and in many cases incorrect). Thanks for your administration Jim and Di. 1. [Aus-Qld-Sunshine-Coast] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. I just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best Wishes, Jim

Michael Madden born c1849 Limerick Ireland Arrived on "Flying Cloud" in 1863 - with his parents, sister and brothers Married Jane Smart in March 1874 in Rockhampton. Jane was born June 1856 in Lyneham, Wiltshire, England Arrived on "Landsborough" in Oct 1873. They had 11 children - 7 married and I know of 1332 direct descendants. The daughters married into the following families - ILES (sometimes reported as EYLES); MORRIS; REID; AMBREY; MALLYON; SMITH; Whilst the sons married - BOLES; FRISCH; REED; ARMSTRONG The grandchildren were born between 1895 and 1932. 1. [Aus-Qld-Sunshine-Coast] Cornish Emigrants - Personal Notices
    2. Rowena Gough
    3. Dear List Folk, I have a strong interest in Cornish genealogy, and have been collecting the Personal Notices, Obituaries, Death and Funeral Notices, and In Memoriam notices of Cornish emigrants. I started with my family group and then kept going, with many hours spent in the State Library of Victoria trawling country newspapers, not yet on Trove. If anyone would like to share the obituaries and death notices of Cornish folk they have researched, I would be very pleased to receive them. The personal notices may also include things like golden wedding celebrations, 90th birthday's etc. These also help me to identify death records, and search for newspaper notices. Please note that I have already been through Trove and collected all items which record that the person was from Cornwall, England. I am looking for Cornish folk who have not been clearly identified as such. What I would like is: The title of the newspaper; The day, month and year published; and The full text as it appears in the newspaper. What do I do with this material? I enter it into a document, one for each state in Australia, one for New Zealand, one for South Africa, one for Canada, etc. When I can, I help other family history researchers. Any contributions that you would like to share will be gratefully received. Also, if you are aware of any country historical groups (or publications) that have collated the deaths notices of their local paper, this would be also of interest to me. Kind regards to all, Rowena

    3. Dear Chris You are probably very aware of the German settlers around the Logan? We at Gold Coast Family History Society have published a book of a great amount of research carried out by a former member of the Society some years ago entitled "Early German Lutheran Families of the Logan". This book mentions the Burows & Beutels as well as many connecting families along with some photos. We also have many scrapbooks compiled by a German researcher which are indexed and held at our rooms at Nerang. 1. [Aus-Qld-Sunshine-Coast] [Admin] The most frequently asked question of subscribers is:
    2. Manaia Alofa
    3. Rootsweb mailing lists are automatic and are managed by list robots. These robots take care of subscription requests and bouncing (rejected) emails. The most frequently asked question of subscribers is: ***************** "Why have I been unsubscribed?" Answer: If your list mail cannot be delivered for any reason, the list robot unsubscribes you after a certain number of failed attempts. (For the AUS-QLD-SUNSHINE-COAST list the maximum member bounce score is: 3) This can happen for a number of reasons - some of the more common reasons are that your mailbox is full, your spam filter is blocking the list mail, your ISP is blocking list mail from Rootsweb, you have put an automatic responder on your email.... If you were unsubscribed and did not wish to be taken off the mailing list, simply subscribe again. However be forewarned that if whatever caused the list robot to unsubscribe you the first time is still happening, it will simply remove you again after a specific number of bounces--3--(rejected list mail to your email address). But as a courtesy to all AUS-QLD-SUNSHINE-COAST listers, I can re-subscribe you manually. Just let me know. ****************** Other questions asked are: "How do I unsubscribe?" Answer: Simply follow the instructions at the bottom of every list mail message. ****************** "Why is my mail not getting to the mailing list?" Answer: Make sure that you are sending from the same email you are subscribed under. The list robot does not recognize names. It only recognizes email addresses. If your sending email address is not on the subscriber list, your email will be rejected. ****************** "Why am I not getting list mail?" Answer: Check the HelpDesk notices in the yellow box for announcements about any technical problems with Rootsweb mail. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ If you don't find the answer to your problem on the HelpDesk page you need to check if you are still subscribed to the list. You can get a list of all your subscribed to mailing lists from Password Central: http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ If Password Central doesn't include all lists to which you should be subscribed, re-subscribe to any lists that are missing from your subscribed lists by sending a new e-mail to: LISTNAME-request@rootsweb.com (replacing the word LISTNAME with the actual list name). Put only the word SUBSCRIBE in the subject and message body of your e-mail. ****************** Should anyone need further elaboration then you may give me a contact. --Manaia [List-Admin] AUS-QLD-SUNSHINE-COAST-admin@rootsweb.com My gratitude to Lorine McGinnis Schulze for sharing.

To subscribe in Digest mode: AUS-QLD-SUNSHINE-COAST-D-request@rootsweb.com. To send a message/post to the List: AUS-QLD-SUNSHINE-COAST@rootsweb.com. >>>>>> FYI Only <<<<<< Mode = manner/method/way. There are two modes in which to subscribe: 1. The -L mode; the "regular" mode now. All regular subscribers receive posts/messages made to the list as separate/individual emails. 2. The -D mode; the "digest" mode now. All digest subscribers receive posts/messages made to the list as one BIG email. If you previously subscribed to the list in both -L and -D modes using the same email address, you will find that you are *no longer* subscribed in Digest mode. The new software doesn't permit the same address to be subscribed in both -L and -D modes. Therefore, if you wish to receive both modes, you will need to subscribe to the Digest using a different email address. Please give me a contact should anyone need further elaboration.
