Hi Don Welcome to the group. We might have some families in common. Lots of people started in Bethania & ended up on the Downs. I use Family Tree Maker & PAF5 (free from http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp ). Paf5 allows many combinations of partial gedcoms to be extracted...only limited by the imagination. With FTM, I create a new file then 'IMPORT' selected bits from the main file to create partial gedcoms. (the Bethania file is also in the order of 12,000 souls). Most programs can detect duplications if they are identical, otherwise it's a bit of a plod through the indexes. Please visit our website below. Collecting interconnected genealogies can be very rewarding and habit forming. (Don't ask me about the computer bits, my brother-in-law in Amsterdam does all that.) One thing I have had to learn is to limit the persons appearing on the internet to those born 70-80 years ago because of privacy concerns and possible exploitation by unscrupulous persons. I have been documenting my ancestry for quite some years and in the process also documenting ALL related families not just direct ancestors/descendants. I presently have around 12,000 individuals on file including but not limited to the following families DEUBLE REITHMULLER BADKE SAAL FLEGLER TEDFORD GODFREY PITMAN POSTLE and others mentioned previously in this group. My questions are My genealogy program does not allow me to export text files, partial gedcoms or any other easy way of e-mailing information. What programs are available that will allow me to do this? What is the best way to make available all the information I have on file? Post a gedcom somewhere? Set up a website using a gedcom to html converter? Something else? Is there any reasonably easy method of merging gedcom files containing multiple duplications? On a more general note, I am just curious if anyone else likes to document all family connections not just the close ones. I have also made a summary chart (5 x A3 sheets) of some of the many cross-family connections that I have uncovered which I think really highlights how close all the early settlers in SE Qld (esp. Darling Downs) were. Kind regards & have a nice day Don Gough Brisbane, Australia ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
