    3. Dear Lisa, Denise & Albert, Thank you Albert for your excellent advice. This index only gives details of migrants intentions at the time of their "Application". No conformation is provided in these publications that the person ever arrived in the country nominated at the time of their application. There is a book titled "Destination Australia, Extracts from the Württemberg Index Volumes 1-5", by George Wieslaw Helon ISBN 064619160 8, published in 1994 by the Polish Genealogical Society of Australia, address: Post Office Box 2530 Bundaberg, 2670 Queensland. I do not know if a revised edition including Vol. 6-7 has been published by the PGSA. For those interested, perhaps this book can be borrowed from your local library through their inter library loan service. This book may be helpful, but only for volumes 1-5. Later volumes 6 & 7 contained more names of migrants who made application to come to Australia than all the earlier volumes. All volumes are availablie in book form as well as on CD-ROM. The CD DOES NOT have a destination search facility, which means one has to search by name or scroll through the entire index, one volume at a time! This is possibly why the WEI on CD is so cheap to purchase in the USA. It is a pity this CD is not more user friendly for those amoung us who collect data on German Immigration, such as provision for a keyword search e.g. place of origin or intended destination. My best advice is to wait until Ancestry have a free access trial period on line to the WEI,(they do from time to time). An easy check can then be made by using a keyword search, such as "Australien" or town name. This usually lists all entries containing the keyword. Further information and a breakdown of which oberaemter (District Towns) were included in each volume, is available on the CD-ROM or at <www.ancestry.com> I hope this helps. Elizabeth
