Thanks Eric and Daph, Confused by the disparity in the two replies. I know that Kaufmann means merchant. Preussen Missionär 31 I assumed means Prussian Missionary aged 31 which is correct. Can either of you tell me if he was a full paying passenger or assisted immigrant? I now have another mystery. He was born in Niemegk Brandenberg, why was he in Pollitz, Hanover. I would have thought if anything he would have listed his residence as Berlin which is where I assumed he trained with Grossner Mission Society. While I'm writng, can anyone give me ideas on how to get general information on Niemegk, I know where it was, but is it a big town, a village, rural, industrial etc? the Qld State Library couldn't help, although they went to the trouble of contacting the German National Library on my behalf. there are many websites re. Niemegk but all in german. Short of paying a German researcher I'm running out of ideas. By the way, I recommend the State Libraries online research service, they've been marvellous on both occasions I used the service. Thanks for taking the time to help me. Hi Janice, So sorry for the mis information which I sent on Carl Anger Of course Eric's information is correct. I have only the QFHS fiche of Eric's information, and mustn't have had it in the reader straight. I got half of Carl's information and half the information of the person under him on the list. Sincere apologies, Daph Janice Nightingale wrote: > Thanks Eric and Daph, > Confused by the disparity in the two replies. I know that Kaufmann means > merchant.
