Pat Berlin: Dear Pat Reference the Third Queensland Mounted Infantry Contingent to the Boer War, my Great Uncle was a member of that contingent. I'm not sure what info you have, but there is some good coverage of their training and departure in the Queenslander Newspaper/Magazine held at the Qld State Library. The Queenslander of March 3 1900 has photographs of every soldier in the contingent, a nominal roll, stories of their training and photographs of their parade through Brisbane. The March 10, 1900 edition has further stories and photos of their departure from Pinkenbah wharf in the Brisbane River. There is also the book "Official Records of Australian Military Contingents to the War in South Africa" by P.L. Murphy and "Australians at the Boer War" by R.L. Wallace.
