Hi Joan Thanks for you reply re scanning photos BUT .... I am sitting here feeling very guilty as I am guilty of misusing the list with this query. Please bear with me while I explain. I have an expensive slide scanner and I am in the process of trying to find customers so that I can scan their slides to offset some of the cost of the scanner. Yesterday, I was hunting on the internet for some quite unrelated information and happened upon a family history mailing list which dealt with the topic I was after BUT also had queries about scanning slides. This led me to thinking that there was a market in this area. When I posted that email yesterday, I had just come back from walking the streets doing a letterbox drop of a leaflet I had produced to promote the service and I was feeling a bit "desperate" for some results so rather impulsively posted the email to 'test the waters'. Consequently, I have had quite a few responses which leads me to believe that there are lots of people who would like this done - I just have to reach them. However, I feel that I have misused the list so I am offering to scan slides for the people who have responded for nothing - and hopefully you may spread the word about what I can do. Apart from scanning the slides to CD, I can also make automated slide shows of them which you can view on your computer. I can scan at dpi up to 4000 but 1000 produces a much more than adequate photograph for viewing on the computer. I have put together a sample CD and will happily post you one if you would like it. Please let me know if I can help you; my offer of doing them for nothing is genuine - I have to atone for my sin<g> Yours repentantly Elaine At 06:06 PM 29/10/2002 +1000, you wrote: >"Joan Baumann" <farjoy@optusnet.com.au>
A double apology to the list -- I have now somehow manage to send a private reply to Joan via the list. I really believed I had set up the reply to go only to her but ........ Sorry Elaine At 10:40 AM 30/10/2002 +1000, you wrote: >Hi Joan > >Thanks for you reply re scanning photos BUT ....
Hi Elaine, Thank you for the offer, the photo's are in Sydney and our Aunt does not want to let them out of her sight so I was thinking of taking the computer down there, with the scanner. Hi from me Elaine, Thank you for your offer of scanning my slides for free also. But like Sue's aunt, my slides are VERY precious to me and I don't want to let them out of my sight.... I'll just investigate how to do it on my own scanner.. ThanksGay
