Hi All, Just wondering if anyone can answer this question for me. In a newspaper report of the arrival of a German immigrant ship into Brisbane it was said of the immigrants, "They are all under engagements and having passed the Immigration Board, are being rapidly drafted off to their employers". Is there any resources anywhere which would tell me where particular immigrants were sent to? I feel this is one way I could prove if the people I found on this particular ship are the family I'm looking for. The Ship was the Grasbrook which came into Brisbane in 1855. The family is Johan & Caroline Schmidt. I know that in 1855/56 they were living at Helidon near Gatton. Thanks and regards, Valerie.
To the List manager and long-time members of the list I understand that in about 1990, Les Moreland gave a talk to the Qld Genealogical Society on the History of the Uckermark. If a transcript of this talk is available for distribution, I would be most interested to receive a copy.
