    3. Hi again No I wasn't asleep, I've been helping a distant cousin, among other things. For years, I've been talking to folk on this List about the GIESEMANNs and no-one seems to know of them. Among that stuff I found is another photocopy of a newspaper article and this one I know must have been in 1977. "PIONEER'S SON DIES LAIDLEY. - A man whose mother owned the entire area which is now the town of Laidley, was buried in Laidley. He was Ernest August GIESEMANN who was born in the district, 90 years ago. He is the last member of the family of 11 (actually 13) born to pioneers, Mr and Mrs C.A. (incorrect here) Giesemann. His mother, Mrs Catherine Giesemann acquired land on both sides of what was to become the main Toowoomba railway line. She built and operated Laidley's first sawmill on the site where the bowling green now stands. Three of her sons, including Ernest, were carpenters and they were responsible for the construction of many business premises and houses still standing in Laidley. After his marriage to Edith NOBEL (should be NOBLE I believe) Mr Ernest Giesemann, took up dairying and mixed farming at Forest Hill on land acquired by government gift by his mother. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Clifford (Townsville) and Neville (Brisbane), two daughters, Violet (Mrs McKay and Syris (Mrs Kissick both of Brisbane, one grandson and four great-grandchildren." I have told you before that C.M.'s will reads like a real estate register! Look on the facade of the building opposite the Hotel and see "Giesemann 1902". (Read the Forest Hill and Hatton Vale school centenary books for more.) SOMETHING ELSE PLEASE - I would like to obtain a copy of "They lived in Lockyer" by P.R.Prince or Price. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Cheers Bev
