    3. Hello All Those of you who are on both the Irish and German Lists will be cross-posted. Sorry, it's too difficult to split this up and it's long too! This I should know and I am aware of many reasons, but the situation repeatedly occurs - why did so many folk move from Bethania to Lockyer Valley? Is there a book on this? **A young fellow, who also has spoken with our Russell, has asked for a little help with his FALKENHAGENs and RYANs from Bethania. In my database, I have FALKENHAGENs marrying TOPP, STUMER, THEDIECKE, NESTER, DAVIS, mostly in the Valley. David's first cousin is married to a KENT, who is a direct descendant of the FLANAGANs and ROSNEYs/ROSSNEYs and there are HEALY, RYAN, BEESTON, WHOULEY etc in that lot. These FLANAGANs also spread to the Valley. Another coincidence for you - a flower-girl at our wedding in 1960 is the eldest daughter of a long time friend - Jim JESSOP who is a descendant of the Valley FLANAGANs and Lord knows who else (I'm scared to go there!!). We only discovered this about 2 years ago. In 1878, three of the GIESEMANN children were enrolled in the Mt Gravatt State School. August was a shopkeeper at that time. The were later enrolled in 1880 at Hatton Vale State School where August was the Secretary of the Provisional School Committee. His second selection of land at Grandchester had neighbours each side related to Les Moreland - or was that Russell? Either way, I think both of these gentlemen had ancestors in Bethania and the Valley. By the mid 1890s, James KERLIN (the 3rd at least) and wife Susan LANCASTER, had moved, followed by Grandfather William John KERLIN. Together with William's twin Moses, these firstly went to Bethania, then South Brisbane where they had at least one shop in Stanley Street which was flooded in 1893, and then the Valley. Moses went back to Waterford in due course. **Can anyone help me to help Daniel please? Any other help on this convoluted mess would be gratefully received. (Not only that, it should wake a few sleepy heads, eh?) Cheers Bev
