Dear List, It has occurred to me that since at least 3 people from this village migrated to Queensland, that it is entirely possible that there were others. I have to hand 13 certificates (all told) comprising baptism and marriage certificates, from the villages of Hohenselchow and of Woltersdorf and of Grosse Pinnow, and of Casekow, and I am going to put the names of the witnesses to the baptisms of my family in the hope that some of you may also have ancestors from Hohenselchow, Casekow, Pinnow or Woltersdorf, Kreis Randow, Germany. It might be nice to know that they all lived together before going to Australia (at least one went to America). The villages of Hohenselchow, Casekow, Pinnow are within 5km of each other according to the map. Woltersdorf is a little further to the south east. All these villages are north east of Berlin and close to the River ODER, which comprises the German/Polish border. The regional seat of government seems to have been Stettin (Szczecin). It was noted by the pastor who compiled these certificates that the family seems to have moved around a lot. They were farmers, and in my opinion, it is entirely possible that they hired out to wichever farmer happened to need workers. Perhaps this assumption is not true but it is a plausible explanation of why some of the TROST children were born in Hohenselchow, some in Pinnow and some in Woltersdorf. here are the names from the certificates. PUTZAR, GENZMER, SIEVERT, KONMANN, TEWS, SCHULZ, GIERKE, HAMMERSCHMIDT, WEGNER, SCHMIDT, BEISENDAHL, HELM, WERNER, USADEL, MULLER, BISCHOF, FISCHER, KONRADT, LANGE, HEUER, BEISENDAHLSHOF, LIEBENOW, JANICKE, STEINKOPF, ARNDT, STARK, LINDOW, PAHL, FISCHER, TROST, BRANDT, LEBAHN, APRAHAM, KRANZ, SCHENK. I also have a wedding certificate of a TROST to ZUHLSDORF. not sure if this TROST is one of mine or not. Have no other information on where he went either. I have no other information on these folks. They were written down as the witnesses of the baptisms of my TROST family members. The reason I am sending them to the list is in the hope that someone is looking for a village for their ancestors, and it is quite possible that they are mentioned above. lots of luck,Beverly.
